Not near as jacked up this time....

These are the tools I used for this process
The miter saw takes a pretty good size kerf out so I planned for it this...
Cut it a bit short then used the files to whittle back to width. Then to get the floor down low enough... only use one shim on the high E side.

Had some trouble installing the new bridge
The bar wouldn't go in
1000012407.webp

Had to take it apart, push in the bar then, with the bar in, tighten all the screws and reinstall toh saddles. I luckily got them back it the same position they came off
And the intonation was dead on, am I lucky or what?

The OEM bridge had 5 springs
I went down to two to float it

I reused the OEM bridge posts the internet said they have different profile from the wilkerson but they be wrong

I just raised them a bit so I could float it

I have a new black pickguard I'm gonna use when I am finished

Left some slack on the locking tuners so I can get the pickguard off tomorrow

Any suggestions for a five way switch and two humbuckers ? Master tone and volume?

Short clip below

I just finished similar upgrades to my Squier, though no bridge replacement:

Before:

During:

Wilkinson tuners, roller nut and trees installed:

Light sand and polish to smooth out the frets, and then oil the board:

Dang i love that
I like the choice in pickguard

Oh yeah. On my other Sunburst project I just ordered a red tortoise pickguard and cream plastic

It's gonna look so good

On my dual humbucker pickguard

I plan to wire it with a 4 pole super switch

Bridge
Bridge split to screw coil
Neck and bridge
Neck split to screw coil
Neck

In order to get the screw coil when split i will reverse the hot and ground on both pickups
Using green to the volume pot and the black to ground

Then on the splits for the neck I will add a capacitor between the red white connection and the switch terminal

And for the bridge split I will put a resistor between the connection

Sizes are TBD

Thanks, brotha. It's so much better than the tortoise-shell to my eyes -- it's hard to go wrong with black and chrome.

Wish I'd known, I'd have shipped this one out to you. I don't like or use Fender SC bridge p/us, generally.

If anyone reading this would like loaded Squier pickguard, PM me, it's yours. CONUS only please.

i actually have a squire strat that needs a guard and electronics. im going to donate it to a locally owned and run "rock school" but if edwuld wants it, he was first. no worries. i have most of the stuff but not the guard
