Perhaps what would really help me besides just which one, which one might be the better quality. I know neck-thrus are to be desired more for tone/sustain but I won't mind either way between these two.

Oh, and I realize the neck pickups are different models. I prefer the 60 over the 85 a little more but I love both and they're so easy to swap. Anyways....

Thanks in advance! :-)

I don't think either one'll disappoint you.

My personal pet peeve with the LTD is having the model # inlaid at the 12th fret.

Ibby might hold it's value a *little* better...

Re: CAN'T DECIDE

I would pick ibanez but I am a tad biased as I love ibanez. it is in my signature.

Re: CAN'T DECIDE

@Danny Boy. Have you actually played examples of either model?

Re: CAN'T DECIDE

Plus it was refurbished by the manufacturer so I know everything else checked out, components, playability etc...

Re: CAN'T DECIDE

I have a B stock esp ltd, all my flaw Is, is a slightly mislaid fret. Everything else is 100% perfect. For the price cut, I love it to death

Re: CAN'T DECIDE

Tricky, the LTD has a maple fingerboard, and it's easier to upgrade bits on the Floyd (e.g. brass block if desired); the Ibanez, on the other hand, has a satin finished neck and no fingerboard inlays, but the zero system on these trems makes for a very small block, which can be a tone killer for some guitars (varies). I'd probably go LTD because I'm not into modern RGs :).

LTD M1000.
I've just always prefered the neck thru/set thru design. No heel to hinder upper fret access. Though, the Ibby sculpted neck joint isn't bad. But, for me, neck thru is hard to beat.

Also, the LTD M1000 comes with the Floyd Rose 1000. Which is the OEM version of the OFR. Built to the exact same specs of the OFR. Very solid trems. Much better trem than the FR Special that comes on the LTD M300 series.
Pkus, nowadays there's lots of FR upgrades you can get to customize the trem to your preferences.

Ibanez uses the Edge trems. I'm a big fan of the Original Edge and Lo Pro Edge. Gotoh made. Awesome trems. I'm very leary of any Edge trem with a II or III behind it. Those are not Gotoh made.

All the theorising and catalogue browsing in the world is no substitute for actually getting your paws on the instruments.
