Tried the Super Distortion. It was okay, but kinda bright and overly compressed. I may need to lower it a bit since it has a ceramic magnet.

I see. Compressed is the nature of the beast, but I'm quite a bit surprised with it being kinda bright. The symptoms you've just described are consistent with a pickup being too close to the strings. I'd try to find the sweet spot by lowering the pickup until the sound starts to "breathe", gets just a little tame, then tweak the individual polepieces upwards for best articulation and string balance.
