Quality never goes out of style.
Besides, who says you have to play 80's music on it?
And who says it's a problem if you want to?
The Jackson Soloist is a modern classic, and I will defend ad nauseam your right to indulge.

This isn't even 80ties, it is plain awesome.

My idea of going 80ties is get a PCM-70. But too many people have the same idea.

i'm a huge Jackson fan.... i know as a Who Fan i'm sopposed to be about Ric's and SG's.... but to me my personal favourite guitars are normally Jacksons...

Imagine how cool that would be as a relic! :p

Poly doesn't wear with a lot of grace the way some other finishes do. It tends to get chips, scratches, and gouges, as opposed to smooth wear spots like nitro does. It's usually a series of accidents and the ugly wounds they leave behind that characterize the relic job on a guitar like this -- apart from the hardware and frets just taking a general beating like they do on any guitar. If anything, there might be a gradual softening and "hazing" of the finish over time, as microscopic scratches cover the surface and take the gloss away over the years.

I'm thinking back to a Kramer Focus I used to have, and it had aged nicely over a quarter-century or so.

Doesn't Cort have a low dollar shred stick in snake out?

I dig!

But what would REALLY be cool is if those scales weren't just painted-on... but carved into the wood somehow so it actually FELT scaley when you touch it.

Upgrade the pickups and/or bridge & you have a fine sounding/looking/playing shred monster :)
