Capacitors

Re: Capacitors

Yeah, well I wasn't going to go further and tell him he still had his values typed wrong

Re: Capacitors

Well, my Strat with two Firebird minis, 500k volume and tone, and a .47 cap is very bright. Just like I like it.

He should get a .47 cap just in case. They're very cheap.

Again, you don't mean a .47, you mean a .047!

If you're going to post some controversial statements, at least be accurate with the basic facts.

You know what I mean, Professor Pedantic. Go take a nap and calm down.

Or stop being lazy and type it the right way! It’s not that hard.

I find .047 good for bass, but too dark for guitar. I like .022 or even .01. Just takes the top end off and leaves the mids.

Imagine a newbie who doesn't know the first thing about cap values and does a search......he comes across your poor typing and makes a BIG mistake in assuming you know what you're talking about, and buys the wrong values.
This forum is about giving good info for now and the future.

Your condescension is top notch. AAA grade absolutely delicious. Worthy of a Knighthood in the Corksniffer Cabal.

Feel better now?

Are you guys this touchy about everything in your lives? Wow.

Re: Capacitors

You still haven't been adult enough to admit you were wrong without trying to shift the blame onto someone else, or try to demean them in the process due to your projection. Perhaps this is not the place for you.

I like to get touchy on breasts.

Maybe you should get off your high horse and mind you own business. Your opinion on anything means nothing to me.

Being accurate on specs is not corksniffing or condescending. Keep in mind this is a manufacturers web site and members seem to forget, or might not be aware, that this forum actually serves as the support network for Duncan customers (check where the Duncan web site support link takes you), so accurate information is important. Misleading a new person could inadvertently reflect badly on the Duncan company. Basic information like component values should be accurate as much as possible.

His opinion should.

It sounds like you're the one on the "high horse". When you post on a public forum it becomes everyone's business whether you like it or not. If your post contains incorrect information, accept the correction from others and be gracious about it. If his comments actually mean nothing to you just ignore them (but you're only hurting yourself).

Re: Capacitors

This is why I think guitar caps should be spoken as nanofarads. It's much easier to get right 47 than 0.047

Why anyone even uses that annoying measures?

Re: Capacitors

Back on topic, please?

Accuracy is praised here- many people come here looking for ino (a surprising number never become members, they just need an answer and Google takes them here), so I am all for providing accurate info using the proper terms.

Re: Capacitors

I just buy .022 and stack them if I need a .044

Stacking caps is the opposite of stacking resistors
Two resistors in parallel are one quarter the total resistance of the pair
Two caps in parallel are the sum of the two cap values

Two resistors in series are the sum of all resistance values
Two caps in series are one quarter the sum

Wow Ed, that is so good to know. I didn't realize that. It may come in handy someday if I run out of caps with the particular value I need at the moment.
