Anybody ever try one? What did you think?

I really like the look of caparison guitars, but Its real tough to find one here in the US.

Re: Caparison guitars...

christopher amott(arch enemy) was using one of their guitars and got killer tone out of it but i haven't played one.

I've seen arch enemy, evergrey, soilwork, and killswitch engage with em, and they all seem to get really good tone. Thats what kinda sparked my interest.

Re: Caparison guitars...

they are MIJ arent they? met a guy in amsterdam and he said those are real fine guitars. never heard of em here.

Re: Caparison guitars...

Isn't James Murphy

!!ALL HAIL!!

an endorser? They do seem nice, but it's hard to know the facts from the hype.

Re: Caparison guitars...

since they are MIJ and mostly handmade i guess they are pretty expensive and should be of high quality(i guess something in the ballpark of high-end esp). No idea where to get them the best way but they have some funny features(27 frets on 25.5 scale could be interessting)

Re: Caparison guitars...

Eh they're bolt-ons but whatever. The guys from KsE use EMGs in them btw, so if you're thinking of "their awesome tone" it's not coming from the guitar. If I remember the standard Caparison Dillinger costs around 1700 us dollars.

beeing bolt-on doesn't make a guitar bad sounding, just different ;). And it's no marker for the quality of the craftsmanship, only another way of construction.
Considering tone: EMGs still change their tone with the guitar they're in but not as much as passives. KSE might use EMGs but Christopher Amott used Duncans or the custom Camparison pickups and he got killer tone. So i guess they can't be bad and considering the price they should better be damn good quality.

Re: Caparison guitars...

not all of there guitars are bolt ons, they also make some set neck models. I researched the brand awhile back and they get rave reviews everywhere. As for getting 1 in the US, guitar asylum was the only US dealer. They used to have a decent selection. You may want to check them out.

Re: Caparison guitars...

these remind me of the hype that jacksons had in the 80s...great guitars...but in about 5 years you'll be able to find them in pawn shops at 1/3 the price

Dear lord...

Re: Caparison guitars...

They're insanely expensive, but they give great endorsements. My buddy Shane in http://www.Backmask.com might have something in the works, I know he's had lunch with them, but he has to get the live band up and running first (missing a drummer).

That said, I'd kill for an Angelus or Dillinger.

Re: Caparison guitars...

For some reason I don't think Adam or Joel from KSE are using EMGs but I could be wrong.

whats wrong w/ bolt ons ?

am i missin somethin ?

Re: Caparison guitars...

the Dellinger II and the Horus have caught my eye many times but due to those stupid inlays i get turned off real quick. put some dots or no inlays on them and i'd give one a shot. next time i'm around guitar asylum i'll stop in and see if they have any and how they play.

Aint nuthin wrong with bolt-ons, the majority of my guitars are bolt-on.

But, as I know KSE & Soilwork put EMG's in their guitars, I know arch enemy uses duncans (though a krank by the way....sweeeeettttt  ), and I ain't sure bout evergrey.

They all got different tones, but its pretty sweet all across the map it seems. EMG's do color the tone quite a bit, but there's still a fair amount of the acutal guitar's tone coming through the mix.

Not like I'd actually be able to afford one anytime soon :smack: , just a company that kinda sparked my interest.

Re: Caparison guitars...

I didn't say bolt-ons are bad anywhere, bolt-ons kick ass! Anyway, it'd probably be a sweet guitar if you got one but having only one dealer is kinda lame imo.

They use 85's in the bridge and SA's in all of their stage guitars.
