Hey, what are your thoughts on Carvins. I have been looking at the DC-127, but it is neck-thru, and I am used to playing Jackson bolt-ons. Any help would be nice. Rock on.
They don't have much resale value, unfortunately, but sometimes you have to buy what works for you, rather than what it'll be worth in a year.
Yeah, Ive always wanted a Carvin. Im going to start shopping for one as soon as I get a job.
And then there were three. lolhey, that's what i said a couple of weeks ago!:friday:
Go for it if it floats your boat, but why not just get a Jackson of Charvel neck thru?
Carvins are nice, but I'm spoiled by MOP sharkies and bound ebony necks.
On the house it is just an upscale 1950's ranch but the furnature is indeed "real".
I kept two Carvins that were not pictured both "pointies".
Pinky my 1990 X220C. This thing is an absolute BEAST. It's poplar with a maple neck and is so light it feels like a toy but has sustain, resonance and tone for DAYS!!!

The other keeper was my 1988 V220R with abalone blocks straight pointy headstock and even Abalone side dots in Sapphire Flame. Solid maple but lighter and better sounding than you would think!

Both are super super rare examples of these early Carvin pointies.
That is the graphite rods in the necks on the 93 and up guitars. It just sucks the very tonal life out of the necks and makes the guitars sound dead IMO .I had a Carvin and sold it. This is my opinion, but they just don't hold up to Jacksons. Carvins just don't sound right (and that was with quite a few pup swaps).
I really can't say anything bad about Carvin, I just prefer other guitars to them.
