Here on the west coast you see a lot of pro players with Carvin amps and it's no wonder , they crank and they deliver at a reasonable $ factor .
I used mine recently at a session ( See " Did A Session " post ) were I ended up doing all sorts of songs from different time periods . One was :
Hoagy Carmichael's " Georgia " . IN the key of " C " and I learned it in " F " but what the ... I adjusted and it worked out better than I imagined it would .
They band playing was a quartet that night , electric Pbass - drums and Chan Romero on keyboards and I on electric guitar .
I was able to take that song into a Blues environment like Willie Nelson took it to CW .
The x-60 Carvin took on the challenge superbly making that song really cry deep and mournfully with distinction . Chan was surprised he never heard my electric guitar playing only my acoustic steel and nylon guitar work . He was most gracious too , saying those Blues chops really brought out the guts in the song as he sung it .
Fat lows and clear and plenty of bite in the midrange & treble tones flowed right out this little bad boy Carvin .
I head Clapton's Corrina Corrina , Big Joe Turners ( live mind you on both ) and many other arrangements on this song , Chan's arrangement was the best I ever heard arranged and sung in my life and I'm 59 . My amp was sweet with just enough distortion to make it emotionally strong , the melodic lines I played and those Chan played pushed up both into this song with power and love .
Can't describe in words how well this amp delivered . So did my guitar but we all know how important the amp is too to the equation huh
!
I am on the look out for another one of these little brutes to be sure , they arn't made any mo
