cat perch > new CAB day > greenies for The Green Machine

how cool is a vertical, slanted 2x12 with a metal grill so you can see the 2 Greenbacks inside? Not just the top half is slanted, the whole thing is slanted from top to bottom. I love it. It is the perfect angle to stand in front of. I gotta get a camera.

so I had this unused 212 for years and years with a dead Celestion Silver 60 and a Celestion G12-T75 wired for stereo. A couple of days ago I stared at it for a second around the same time I had the idea of ordering two greenbacks to solve my 50 watt needs (I had been focused on a Red Fang-loaded 110 instead). The speakers arrived less than a day after I ordered them so I had to hurry up and hustle the mono wiring.

It's a Paradise Productions Inc. cabinet from Arlington, WA where my mom lives now. Long since out of business. It's 5-ply, looks like, and front-loaded; all sealed up in the back -- there is no back panel that comes off. Each speaker has it's own 112-sized enclosure inside the cabinet. Down the side of the front, next to the metal grill is a long port to let the bass dogs out.

My Ibanez TS-Amp thinks it is very cool. I'm surprised by how much my Carmen Ghia agrees. My cat disagrees, but she will get over not having a perch by the window anymore. I have a lot of groovy sounds happening, and after just 20 minutes' of speaker break-in time this 2x12 became an instant classic in my career and one of my all-time favorite cabs. Getting two Celestion G12M speakers for it was wise. They don't blend so well with my Gold 10", not nearly as well as they do with my Blue. Amazing match, right there.

My favorite use of this cab so far, hands down:

I have been plugging straight into a $299 Ibanez TS Amp that has no earthly business sounding this righteous. I CANNOT get over this. It is a really great cab. I'm pretty gosh-dang happy, and every speaker I try with that TSA makes me love it more.

cab sat there for 13 years. No tolex, that black fuzzy crap.

what a great cab. So glad it's vertical. Little TSA looks killer sitting on top with the corky looking gasket rings showing thru the metal grill.
