Re: Category #9 Best Telecaster

Philippe Dubrielle handmade Tele on the left, but the Wayne in my entry because it's 1 of 1. Originally made for Dave Kilminster (one of Roger Waters guitarists) and now it's mine.

lol i was going to enter my tele but now i see the race is already run and won!
Lovely axe.
Hey brother Cam, cheers mate. Nah this is too way-back time machine vintage classic cowboy for the SD forum. I just posted for fun not to enter anything. Please post your Tele, can never get enough T style.

I was going to post, but I think we're done here. For some categories, there's just no point in logging in.
LOL... please post!

I'm out too
Like I said, I'm not really in nor do I have much of a chance with the judging panel here anyway~ :headbang:

Cheers- RG

Mate it is a fantastic axe and the more way back time machine cowboy it is, the better IMHO! Pat Capocci here in sydney has a similar beast by the same builder. No need to be self effacing bro. It is something to be proud of.
Here is my axe anyway for ****s and giggles. I really like it. So much so that i dont really play my gibsons anymore. It is my third tele and i think pretty close to perfect for my needs. Warmoth neck and body. Super light weight swamp ash, fralin blues special broadasters, gotoh intonated bridge. Roasted maple oiled neck with 10-16 radius. Giant frets. Thin nitro finish with no filler or clearcoat. Bakelite guard. Twanging, bending, resonant, articulate and ridiculously easy playing workhorse. Enjoy!
Also special shout out goes to both Will and Crusty for sick teles too! - crusty you might recognize the old girl behind the guitar. Thanks again for the amazing rebuild you did on it.

btw rodney...i gleaned a bunch of licks and stuff from that instructional video you sent me, and last year i signed up for six months to the Guthrie Trapp online lesson things at Artist Works. Been getting plenty of country/rockabilly gigs in the last six months or so and really enjoying exploring the style and the approach. Thanks for helping get the ball rolling!

Re: Category #9 Best Telecaster

Hey Cam, I know the work that went into your amp and God I want one of Crusty's builds!

BTW, my Tele is willed to Crusty if I go before him.

And how the hell did you train those crickets??

Cheers Cam and thanks. Great looking combo! Nah, not self effacing in the least. Total respect for the craftsmanship, beyond proud. I absolutely dig my guitar and how cool it is. Handmade for me. But on today''s SD forum, a Tele with a Floyd and two humbuckers has a better shot. BTW dig Pat's stuff. Cool to hear on the country thing. So important to round out skill-set IMO. Guthrie Trapp is a favorite. So much taste in his phrasing. I need to check out that course. I am doing alot of Ford/Carlton/Lukather style work right now. It's really fun to explore and I am getting work. Good day~ Cheers, RG

I beg to differ... While a Tele with a Floyd and humbuckers is kind of cool, YOUR Tele is the epitome of classic and classy. I think most of us agree that a Tele is at its best in a form similar to its original design. Yours would get my vote hands down... I hope you decide to leave it in the contest! :fing2:

Hoary!!! Fun with Telecasters!!!

I'm not entirely sure that any of my Tele's are going to bring me home any "Best In Show" prizes but I think they're pretty darn fantastic!!!

Home - built Telecaster. Cheap neck from eBay, a 1-piece ash body, with a 2-piece maple top. Wilkinson bridge, fitted with a Broadcaster. Fralin Blues Special neck with a 4-way switch. Just added the homemade clear pick guard this evening.

Incidentally, why were this category and the Les Paul category no specific brand, yet the Strat one was specifically Fender?

Re: Category #9 Best Telecaster

Mate, don't get too excited. So far they are only pretending to play...like ralph macchio in "Crossroads"

Hay now, Ralph Macchoi is a flipping amazing guitarist!!!

image.jpgimage.jpg

Not only did he "chop heads" with Steve Vai and win, but apparently he's 100% ambidextrous too???

I bet you couldn't have a "Head Chopping Contest" with Steve Vai and win while simultaneously playing both left and right handed??? LOL!!!!!

With respect, I beg to differ ...

Stinky, my modified and beat to snot '74 Tele Custom abberation won this in the first year, and the next time around when Aceman said he couldn't remember the previous winner, I posted a pic of Stinky to remind him. Aceman thought it was an entry, and everyone started voting for it again (even though it was inelegible to enter a second time). Any time Stinky's pic appears here he gets a heap of adulation for some strange reason. So the good folks here are happy to see Tele's just being Tele's the way they were intended, they get their 'whammy and a couple'o'shredbuckers' action in plenty of other areas.

Stinky says hello to everyone, by the way.
