Celestian Vs. Eminance

Re: Celestian Vs. Eminance

Here's my simplified answer: If I'm Thumpin Hard, I want the Celestion. It's carried the Tone for years. I use mainly Marshall, so I'm probably not the best source for an answer to this.

Re: Celestian Vs. Eminance

I use UK made Celestions and the Alnico Blue, Silver Bulldog, G12H30 and Vintage 30 are my favorite 12" speakers ever made.

But new Celestions are made in CHINA....Eminance are made in the USA...so I'm going to recommend going with Eminence.

Well......Probably the 2 most popular Celestions are the 25 watt " Green Back ", and the Vintage 30. The Celestion has a tight and focused tone, and the lower wattage on the GB or Vin. 30 allows it to " break up " sooner than higher wattage speakers. So... you'll get a dirtier sound at lower volumes. The speaker doesn't have to be driven as hard for it to distort. To me, Celestions have a lot of " oomph " , and carry the mids and lows very well. I also think they have a lot of clarity. :)

Re: Celestian Vs. Eminance

I've been a huge Celestion fan for years and have several cabs and combos loaded with them. Until recently I would have never even considered Eminence but the new Patriot and Redcoat series are great sounding speakers. I believe Eminence did their homework on these and have come up with some winners.

Place a post in " Tips and Clips " asking for some clips of each. :)

Re: Celestian Vs. Eminance

I am actually considering researching this myself for personal reasons, I wanna know what driver hits lower frequencies, what one hits higher frequencies, ressonance capabilities, weight, all that stuff. Ill let you know what I find out.

Re: Celestian Vs. Eminance

I just replaced the 4 12's in my A cab with Carvin GT-12's , very close to Vin30's and only 70 bucks ea.

But why not get the real V30's? They are only $79+shipping from Avatar. Unless it's the China issue and that is a problem with me as well. I'd rather buy US made Eminence than something from China.

I've used Celestions since about 1970...but I won't buy a new Celestion that's made in CHINA, a country with one of the worst human rights records on the planet and which has done all within it's power to destroy the Tibetan people and thier culture.

Well said, Lew.

Re: Celestian Vs. Eminance

OR...try the Mojo clones that Lew's brother Bruce recommended for me. I got the V30/H30 clones in a Marshall 2x12 & they sound pretty friggin sweet! USA made for $75.00 each!

Hmm, that sounds interesting.

Re: Celestian Vs. Eminance

Hey JUMP....check with him @ www.missionamps.com

He also does this acetone break in thing that makes the speaker sound like it's been broken in/aged. I never heard them without the break-in, but the way they sound, it was worth the extra few bucks he charged!

Re: Celestian Vs. Eminance

Check over on the gear page forum www.thegearpage.net

Several threads about the new Emi's in amps and cabs.

Doug Roccaforte has been giving some great info as he is now using them in his amps. Aiken too I believe.

For what it's worth I have compared like chinese and english Celestions and can't hear the diff. They are quite good, but I prefer to support US business so I will be using Redcoats or Patriots in the future. I do have 1 chinese Celestion stock in a Dr Z cab.

Re: Celestian Vs. Eminance

After reading all the buzz at the Gear Page, I bought a Em. Red Fang for my Tweed Deluxe. it's a GREAT speaker... Very close in tone to the wonderful Celestion Blue and about 1/2 the price of one. And made in the USA for extra measure. Excellent speaker. It has a big bell on the back of it that can't be removed though. IF space is tight, it might not fit too well.
