celestion v30 with vented voice coil

Hello

Are these common?
Took it out of my Marshall Studio 15 to replace dust cap that fell off and realized it has a vent on the back like some older Celestions. Never seen V30 / Vintage like this before.
My amp is from 1985. I think the speaker is one of the earliest V30s.

Does the vent have an influence on sound?

Thats a Marshall Vintage, their special batch order version of the UK V30

Comes in 1960 AV/BV cabs

Actually no scratch that, it's 8ohm so it must be from a combo or 212 cab

Seems like amp companies like adding venting when special ordering speakers, iirc the Mesa/Celestion Black Shadow C90 adds one too

This speaker was stock in my Marshall Studio 15 combo, that's for sure.

Re: celestion v30 with vented voice coil

Marshall Vintage speakers in other amps don't seem to have venting

Re: celestion v30 with vented voice coil

Hmm interesting... checked mine out of curiosity, and it is HALFvented???? Small hole no mesh, Celestion v30 Ipswitch Suffolk England label, 444 cone, no side stick3r or trace thereof, beige-ish frame stamped "26AL 13903/2." or maybe "26AL 73903/2."

Or wait....probably "26AL T3903/2."

That would at least make some sense
