Is there a difference between the Celestion Vintage 30s and the ones that come in Marshall cabinets (Mode Four) and actually have the Marshall name on them? Thanks!

Well, the 1960AV/BV cabinets come with these speakers in them. I have the 1960AV. Go into Guitar Center and plug into a Mode Four, 1960A, then 1960AV. What you will realize is that the AV is much, much better sounding. It's definitely worth the extra $150 over the 1960A.

Re: Celestion Vintage 30s

I'm not sure about the Mode 4 cab, but the 1960A cab does not come with V30s. It comes with G12T-75s, and I think you can get the AV cabs with Greenbacks instead of V30s. I have no idea about the answer to your original questions. I would imagine that if marshall uses a speaker and it has the Vintage 30 label, then it will actually be a Vintage 30.

Re: Celestion Vintage 30s

I know there is a difference between the speakers in a 1960A and a 1960B, but I'm talking about three speakers that all say Vintage 30 on them: the stock 1960AV/BV speakers, the MF 280s, and the after-market Vintage 30s that Celestion sells. They all say Vintage 30 on them, but I dont know if they are different.

There is no difference between a Vintage 30 that comes stock in a Marshall cab, and a Vintage 30 that you can buy aftermarket. Same speaker.

There is no difference between the speakers in a 1960A and B. They are both G12T-75s. One is slanted, the other is straight. that's the only difference.

Re: Celestion Vintage 30s

1960a/b have the 75w celestions (300w cab)
1960av/bv have the vintage 30's (280w cab)
1960ac/bc have the g12m greenbacks (100w cab)

they also do a 1960 tv which is a g12m loaded vintage tall cab and a 1960ax/bx which also has greenbacks but has the vintage style grill

Re: Celestion Vintage 30s

I use the V30 loaded 1960 A/V cab and love it...Bought mine new quite a few years ago...That sucker wasn't cheap either! LOL

The Mode 4 cabs have specially designed custom-voiced 70 Watt 12” Celestion/Marshall “Vintage 30MF” speakers or custom-voiced 100 Watt, 12” Celestion/Marshall speakers.

Personally, I'd get Celestion Vintage 30's as most of the "specially" designed Marshall/celestion speakers I've heard haven't impressed me. Go with the tonally proven workhorse the Vintage 30.

Re: Celestion Vintage 30s

I love vintage 30's. Ive had single, double, and 4-12 cabs. I like 2-12 vintage 30 cabs cuz they are easier to pickup and haul around and also get a better clean sound if its a big 2-12 cab plus they still have a nice tight bass sound but not quite as heavy bass as a 4-12 cab. I finally switched to now playing thru 2 2-12 cabs and spreading them out for even bigger sound. if you run in stereo it is big and you can add slite delay between the cabs for a huge tone or put one back by the drummer and you dont have to haul around a practice p.a. or stack the 2 cabs togather side by side and get almost the same base as you would in a regular 4-12 cab. Its your money and you probably want to experiment alittle anyway. after years of playing thats what I did. went with the vintage 30's and a couple of 2-12 cabs instead of 1 4-12 cab. :beerchug:good luck.
