Celtic Edana arrives!

Re: Celtic Edana arrives!

I absolutely cannot wait to finally try one of these things! of course mine will be in a combo, but I'm sure it will sound just as killer....and puckboy, thanks for the single coil through the edana endorsement...I was getting worried they wouldn't sound fat enough for the amp...but apparently I worry in vain :)

You do worry in vain. Singles sound incredible. Humbuckers have this warm deep rumble that shakes your pants (feels pretty darned good) ;).

As far as looking forward to trying one. Owning this amp is like having a supermodel waiting for your beck and call. She sings like an angel and sizzles in the sack. Only drawback is she's a loud talker. That's something I don't mind though. Better too loud than too quiet. This supermodel goes to "eleven".

Do you think it will take an attenuator well?
It actually works very well with my Weber MASS.....something I haven't been able to do with other Marshall-like amps(Splawn QR/Bluesbreaker/JCM combo).

So I guess it would work well with something like a THD Hotplate? Volume is a big thing for me, since I'm starting a band so I need the volume to be heard, but need to control the volume for home. The Edana sounds like the perfect amp at this point.

I will obviously need to start getting Gr8Scott to write my marketing literature. Thanks for all the kind words.

If you're going to use an attenuator, just don't use something crappy like a power soak or a load dump.

A THD Hotplate, a Weber MASS and a Dr. Z Airbrake are Celtic Approved. The output transfomer is pretty stout. A good attenuator will not affect the OT in any way. It's just that you're running the amp close to full bore when you use an attenuator. Since I've gone to the taller enclosure, heat is less an issue.

The only drawback to a good attenuator is tube life will be shorter the more you use it.

I'm sure the Hot Plate would be fine. I prefer the Weber because you can change impedence with them...if you change cabs, you don't need a separate MASS.

There's also a BYPASS switch on the MASS that you can hit for when you wanna rock out full bore & not have to unhook it.
