Champ Speakers

Greetings

I am planning to replace the speaker in my SF Champ. I believe I have narrowed it down to two choices: Weber 8A100T or Weber 10A100T. Any opinions out there? Should I replace/upgrade the caps and resistors, etc.? What can I do to make this Champ be all that it can be?

Thanks

Re: Champ Speakers

A Weber 10A100T is a great speaker but it's a 10 and Im not sure if, even with a new baffle it will fit into a Champ and depending on the Champ the 8A100T won't fit either.

You need to use a Weber Signature 8.

You'll need a 4 ohm speaker for a Champ. I put a 4 ohm Weber P10RT 10" speaker in mine...but I had to make a new baffle and cut a piece from one of the ribs of the speaker to fit it in. Sounds great though! Louder and just plain better than a 8" speaker.

Well the Weber P10RT is a 10A100T so I guess with a few mods it will fit!

:laugh2: It's alot of work! :smack: Bruce did it for me...:)

Probably the way to go is with the 8" Weber. It's not like the 10 makes the Champ giggable or anything. I kind of think of my Champs as novelty amps...I rarely plug into them.

Champs are cool amps but Im with you...they are kind of neat but you have to go through all kinds of hell to actually use them. I have actually played a few small clubs with 2 of them but like I said it's kind of a pain.

Back to the question at hand...Even though crazy Lew got a 10 in a Champ I'd more than likely just stick with an 8 and I'd for sure get a Weber the only thing is you have to read up on Ted's site as a lot of his 8's don't fit in Champs...

Yeah, he makes the signature 8" Champ speakers that are smaller (I guess in depth) and fit in Champs.
