changing the APH-1 on neck, but...

Hi,

some weeks ago I asked you about the best SD pickups the tame the slightly brightness of a PRS CE-22 maple top.
I installed an Alnico II pro on neck and a Custom Custom on the bridge and made some tests with wirings.
My last solution was to keep the 50's wiring I got from RS Guitarworks (I A/Bed the Hovalnd cap with a Mallory 150 too, no competition here, the Hovland just give more sound. I tested also the standard wiring suggested here on the SD website, but the 50's makes the volume much more useable) but with a 250K vol pot.

I love the Custom Custom on bridge, really love it.
But I'm not totally satisfied with the Alnico II pro on neck. It has just too much sweetness and it's not so big sounding, I'd like a bit more power too.

I'm thinking to try a classic like the SH-1n '59, or should I test something else?

I dont' want brightness back and I'm afraid that I'll have volume differences between the alnico 2 pickup on bridge and the future alnico 5 on neck.
What do you think about that?
Do alnico 5 pus give more volume?

Thanks.

Just throw an AlNiCo 5 mag in your AlNiCo II neck pickup right now...should provide a bit more output.

You can get something more high powered, but the voicing won'tbe as well matched.

If you are open to it, try the Pearly Gates, though there is a push in the highs that is a lot less "Sweet" that the APH. The things is, it has good bottom, and sounds bigger!
