Changing the Humbuckers in Epiphone G-400

Re: Changing the Humbuckers in Epiphone G-400

There are two models, one neck and one bridge. A2 for both.

One of each will do fine. ;)

I found some nice deals on SD at Ebay. For my style, what combo of Custom, JB, Jazz, 59, etc, do you recommend?

Re: Changing the Humbuckers in Epiphone G-400

My equipment: Guitar - Epiphone SG g-400, Amp - Vox VT40+.
I like playing: Metallica, Nirvana, Pixies, AC/DC, The shadows, The Ventures, etc.
I would like to have a better distortion and a better clean sound than the stock Humbuckers.
Frankly the SD pickups are too expensive, considering that the guitar alone cost around 300$.
Which bridge and neck Humbuckers from GFS or other cheaper alternative do you recommend?

I've bought many used pickups on eBay, I've never had a problem. I've had way too many problems with eBay motors though, so it depends on what you're buying. Since pickups are pretty resilient and easy to package your chances are good.

I put an Air Norton and a Tone Zone in my g400. Your amp will have a large effect on your tone too so I don't know how they would sound with your amp. On my fenderesq amp these helped tame the treble for sounds more like AC/DC.

Re: Changing the Humbuckers in Epiphone G-400

I finally decided to buy the Seymour Duncan SH-4 JB & SH-2n Jazz HOT RODDED Humbucker Pickup Set.
Thank you for your help :)

Re: Changing the Humbuckers in Epiphone G-400

I changed the HB to JB/Jazz, changed both tone pots for Dimarzio Push Pull, changed both volume pots to CTS.
It sounds amazing now. Thanks everybody.
