Changing the Humbuckers in Epiphone G-400

Re: Changing the Humbuckers in Epiphone G-400

And how much for VAT, Customs and administrative charges...?
1. Tonerider Alnico II Classics + Alnico VI Classics = 113$+18$(shipping) = 131$ (with taxes and all)
2. Golden Age Parsons Street Overwound Humbuckers Alnico 2 / Alnico 5 = 99$ + 18$(shipping) = 135$ (with taxes and all)
3. GFS vintage 59 In the bridge and a crunchy pat in the neck = 62$ + 25$(shipping) = 87$ (with taxes and all)
BTW most of the time the customs here wont check items like this.

Good luck, then!

In my neck of woods we're not that lucky. EVERYTHING coming from ouside of the EU is subject to VAT, Custom and administrative charges.

I still say Vintage 59 neck and VEH bridge is the best combo you can get from GFS, and for the cheapest of the bunch you've listest (same price as #3). It's the classic PAF neck/overwound bridge combo. But given you are using a VT40+, a lot of the pickups you mentioned will sound really similar as they are all in the same "class" and the VT40+ is by no means transparent.

But of the ones you've listed, I'd say #3.

Re: Changing the Humbuckers in Epiphone G-400

I can confirm the 59/VEH set. I bought a used GFS 59 thinking it was an SD (for only $15) and that was paired with a VEH I decided to buy just to match companies. They are really excellent. I also like the Mean 90 humbucksd sized P90s.

Re: Changing the Humbuckers in Epiphone G-400

Have you considered the black winter set i have put one in my epi g-400 pro and it is amazing, it is a beast, but not a one trick pony, it can easy be tammed down to do some classic/hard rock, and some rockier blues.

Re: Changing the Humbuckers in Epiphone G-400

Just wondering, do you like this guitar and plan on keeping it awhile? If so, I would just forget the cost of it and drop in some SD’s. I have the same guitar and put in a 59 neck and bridge and have been vary happy with them and I try to play some of the same music as you.

Re: Changing the Humbuckers in Epiphone G-400

There are two models, one neck and one bridge. A2 for both.

One of each will do fine. ;)

Why you recommend the Parsons Street over the Overwound?
and why not putting 2 for the neck and the 5 for the bridge? or opposite?

I can only recommend what I know for a fact it works.

The top and bottom sets are the same. I'd say for what you are looking for a '59 neck and Custom bridge are not only what you are looking for, but fairly easy to come across used for cheap. But of those listed, I'd say Vintage Blues, because the JB can be picky about what it's put it.

You mean Seymour Duncan SH-14 Custom 5?

Re: Changing the Humbuckers in Epiphone G-400

Nope, the SH-5 Custom. The one with the ceramic magnet.
