Changing Valvetronix Speaker

Re: Changing Valvetronix Speaker

Its very easy to replace one, i'm thinkin a Vintage 10 because ppl say that the Ramrod has a boomy low end.

Is a vintage 10 made by Eminence? I use an SG, so I want something that's going to help thicken up my tone. The stock speaker is horrid - so sterile and brittle sounding.

It's a Celestion speaker, I think it's supposed to sound somewhat like the Vintage 30.

Re: Changing Valvetronix Speaker

I think the best production 10 I've heard is the Eminence Ragin Cajun. That's the one I'd recommend. I have a few on order from Emminence and when Curly and I spent an hour or so at the Eminence booth trying out speakers at NAMM last month, the Ragin Cajum was our favorite. I'm a huge Celestion fan but the Vintage 10 I owned was a disappointment and was not the equal of the Weber VST 10's. The Emm Ragin Cajun does seem to equal the performance of my favorite Weber 10's...we'll see. Lew

I heard that the Ragin Cajun lacked bass and that the Ramrod was chock full of mids and bottom. That sounds more appropos for an SG.

I say if it ain't broke don't fix it

it is tough to get rid of an excess speaker (sell used?!?)

consider getting another pickup or maybe better tuners ...that is what I would do anyway

Not applicable in this case. My guitar sounds great through other amps, and at times through this one. It's the amp. I think I am Ramrod-bound.

Well I played through them and heard them with my own ears. The Ragin Cajum lacks nothing! It's a butt kicker...and not in theory but in an actual playing and listening test while being compared to Eminence's other best selling 10's. :) Lew

Re: Changing Valvetronix Speaker

What is the diff. between an "American" style (Ragin Cajun) and a "British" style (Ramrod)?

Re: Changing Valvetronix Speaker

American voiced are supposed to sound like the speakers in Fender amps (The American tone). British voiced are supposed to sound like Celestions, the main manufacturer of loudspeakers during the 50s and 60s in the UK. And after that as well. When I hear American style I usually think Fender, and when I hear British style I think Marshall.
