chapman ml-1

There's a used chapman ML-1Pro at guitar center concord ca. i tried it briefly, really briefly. It looked good with its brown wood and set neck. The shape had smooth and sharp curves and seemed fairly modern take on a strat. http://www.chapmanguitars.co.uk/guitars/ml-1-pro/

But it was heavy, about 8something pounds. the guitar action was high and this needed a setup. The neck was narrow but the fretboard had sharp edges and seemed to be flat radius. The guitar was basically new and didn't look worn out.

Worth a try but the tone wasn'tt doing it for me. The pickups made it sound dark. No twang at all like a strat.
And the hot humbucker tone needed to be cranked but i didn't want to turn it up at the store. I guess this guitar would be good on a bright amp.

You seem surprised.

It's an all "mahogany", set neck shred stick. Your judgement was correct. The amp needs to be cranked for the ML-1 Pro to give of its best.

Fingerboard edges can be tumbled. Relief and action can be improved with a full set up. Chapman Guitars sold in the UK get a thorough professional set-up before being displayed for sale. I do not know what standard of QA is performed on examples available in North America.

A buddy of mine has an ML1 Hot Rod model with the 35th Anniversary JB in it. That thing rips! It plays great and sounds amazing!

If the one you played isnt right, it's because someone ducked it up after the fact.
