never heard of one till i walked out of a cafe after breakfast this morning and walked into the pawn shop next door..they have a horrible, ugly charvette ,by charvel for a hundred bucks...the guitar itself is in good shape, but it is this freaking ugly ,you can see it from the space shuttle ,yellow....so i am thinking ..sander.....and paint job for my first project guitar...but are they crap?

Re: charvette guitar?

They were the lowest line, right before Jackson discontinued the Charvel line altogether. I remember seeing them in the Musicians Friend catalogue and they were cheap. The Charvels at that time were made in Japan, I don't know where Charvettes were made, bt they were the budget line of Charvels

Re: charvette guitar?

Charvettes are okay but Korean. $100 is about right for it. If you did sand it you would find that it is ply. However this can look good naked. I picked up a naked one ages ago and used it for a few years I might revive it with new pickups.

Re: charvette guitar?

it did seem a bit heavy.....heavier than my fender showmaster...and there was no country of origin decal any where on the back of the headstock or neck.....and just how much tone can wood chips actually have...i will pass..

Re: charvette guitar?

Some are ply some aren't. You need to inspect the neck pocket to find out.

Some fool is selling (edit: trying to sell) one on ebay for $350 - Yeah right:lol:
