Cheap + awesome poplar Hss NGD

Phantasmagoria

watch where you point that sabre
New poplar HSS axe I just bought online = GREAT bang for the buck!

Plays like butter and really SINGS tone-wise! Has that slightly nasal/sweet/vowely thing going on in the mids that I love for solo's.

Everything about this axe was pretty much perfect..frets, neck, tuning stability, fit/finish, pups/sustain/tone ....just an all round fine player!

A decent amount of guitar for the price too :bigthumb:

1st try (bridge) Straight out of the box (did'nt even have to tune it!) :

And here's one with the plastic stickers pulled off the top of the pup's....forgot to do that in the last video :bigthumb:

Cool guitar! I'd suggest a separate thread in Tips & Clips if you are going to post tons of clips of it.

Thanks! I'll put the extra informative/educational clips down there in the Tips & Clips thread I already have going for the other two HSS strats..

This thread will only only have the bare essentials (vids for each pup, comparisons w/ other hss guitars, clips w/ different amps etc)

I have it from a reliable source (Clint) that Guitardoc was picked up yesterday for loitering in a manner unbecoming of a gentleman ...so hopefully he won't be bothering us here...:kidding:

I like that one side of the bridge pickup is direct mounted, and the other is pickguard mounted. Best of both worlds! LOL

In all seriousness, I dig the design aesthetic of the pickguard and the overall guitar. Kinda like a modernized strat.

Congrats!

How many guitars do you own now? I bet they're a lot.

Thanks! Yeah, its pretty good value & I really like the look of it too..

Haha..I did'nt realize that about the bridge pup. Who says guitar-making innovation's dead :laugh2:

Yeah, I've lost count tbh, but should be 40-45(ish) or so axes by now. 99% of them are cheap though (Bought this for $350). Most are >$500. I only have 3-4 that are over 1k...

What can I say? ..variety is the spice of life :D

Sure....no I've never been in debt. Ever.

Really careful about that. My grandfather was a big one for the race track (horses) and as kids my mum always drilled into our skulls the importance of never gambling/getting into debt, cuz of the hell they had to go through as a family when she was a kid...creditor's landing up at all hours, stuff being repossessed etc.. all because of my Grand-dad's habit.

So no..I always pay up front & never buy a thing I can't afford. (Plus I have only debit not credit cards)

Same thing w/ the neck single. Can't say I'm overwhelmed with it. It's a bit too bassy & hard-edged/harsh feeling at the same time...though it doees'nt actually sound too bad. May only be question of adjusting the height/angle.....

Otherwise I have a Dimarzio Injector (N) I could try in this ..only it's black...let's see.

Anyway :bigthumb:

First, I think that neck pickup sounds great; I prefer a bit warmer neck sounds, so that might be it.

Second, dude you CAN PLAY! Really impressive.

Well tbh I don't hate it ..I'd just prefer a spongier feel (for tapping). I'mguessing a little messing w/ the height should fix things for me. It does have nice fat tone & it's pretty raspy/splattery too, which I like.

Why thank you kind sir! Pretty sure my buddies Clint and GuitarDoc really appreciate the kind words too :lmao:

hhmm.... nit-picking. A classic symptom of OCD ( as found so often among serial killers like Bundy, Jack the ripper etc..)

Here's hoping it will pass before things get out of hand....

You're displaying your ignorance again for everyone to see.

Not "nit-picking" at all. There is a big difference between split and tapped. It would do you well to look up the difference and find out for yourself so you can be more informed about what you talk about before criticizing and bad mouthing those who know better/more than you. Too many people don't understand that difference (like you) and use the terms incorrectly (like you).

I admit to being a bit OCD...I've never tried to hide that. There's no need to. But your narcissism, more often than OCD, is found in serial killers. Maybe that's something else you could be more informed about.

Oh, I forgot...you already know everything and everyone else is wrong about everything. Sorry about that.
