Hi, can anyone tell me how buying a cheapish 7 band eq pedal can help improve my sound?

also can it make dull pickups sound better?

Which eq pedal do you guys recommend? I have been looking at the Boss ge7 or the danelectro fish n chips. are these any good? are there others i should consider?

I play metal mostly.

oh yeah one more thing, what does a compression pedal do and are they useful? thanks

I have pretty cheap gear compared to most of you. i play my solid mahogony Les Paul copy with set neck through a boss mt2 metal zone pedal into a peavey bandit 112s solidstate 80 watt amp. thanks for the help

Re: Cheap EQ Pedal.....useful??

I bought a GE7 a few weeks back and I really liked it. I posted a thread on it... you may be able to find it.

It gives me good control over my tone (more than just bass, mids and treble), but you should understand that the adjustments are best when they are subtle. I have a muddy strat but it sounds great when I take out some of the bass and lower mids.

I also use it as a boost pedal... and its cool because I can adjust the tone of the boost very easily.

I think its a handy pedal to have around. And its very affordable.

I got the behringer GE-7 copy yesterday for only £15 new! The only real difference is it's made from tough plastic instead of metal, but I really like it and think it will do the job. I've noticed putting it in the effects loop of my plexi, and increasing the gain on it doesn't seem to make it louder, just gets more poweramp distortion...?? - sounds smokin' :D

You should buy Kac's EQ pedal in the trading post.
I agree, and in light of this request for info in this thread only, I will let this great EQ pedal go for the low low price of $35 shipped!!!

Rock On ~ Kac
