Hey all, i'm going to order a Splawn but i'm from Israel and I got a $375 Fedex shipping quote from Scott Splawn.
So now i'm trying to find an alternative and was hoping you guys could help me, what is the cheapest insured air shipping company?
Thanks

Re: Cheapest Air Shipment?

Try "Air Throw It As Far As You Can". I here they're deliver pretty quick.

Just kidding, call around I think Fed Ex cheaper than UPS.

Will USPS work for you? Get a quote from USPS.com, they are almost always cheaper with the small stuff but I have never shipped anything as big as an amp before..

Re: Cheapest Air Shipment?

Thanks, I got a quote from USPS of 300$ via Global Express Guranteed, and 150$ via Airmail Parcel Post. As I understand it Global Express can be insured for about 10$ more, and Airmail Parcel Post can't be insured, so I guess it's not worth the risk and I should go with the insured more expensive one?
I caculated it by 44 lbs, but i'm not sure how much does a Splawn Competition actually weights, anyone knows?

Re: Cheapest Air Shipment?

Any other suggestions? Any other companies besides UPS\Fedex\USPS? Thanks

Re: Cheapest Air Shipment?

FedEx or UPS might be the best overall deal for smaller overseas shipments when you factor in the other hassles.

Is it a head, or head & cab? If there's a 4x12 involved then you might have a shipment big enough to go on a pallette via common freight carrier and THAT might save some bucks, but you need to be able to receive a truck (18-wheeler most likely) and unload the pallette on your end.

It's a head only. What do you think about USPS Global Express?

Re: Cheapest Air Shipment?

I don't know if I've ever used the Global Express option...though, usually finding and/or getting paid on lost shipments is easier with FedEx.

Re: Cheapest Air Shipment?

You might also try www.baxglobal.com, but they will probably be as much as UPS or Fedex. USPS is usually the cheapest for international. I'm pretty sure you can insure Airmail Post packages too, but I think Moose is right, it probably takes a while to file a claim if anything happens (haven't had to do that yet, knock, knock).

I checked out their website but there isn't an option to caculate shipping there so I don't know how expensive they are. As for Airmail Post packages as I understand it from the USPS site packages shipped to some countries can be insured, and to some it can't, and to Israel it can't be insured. The insurance limit is about 600$ too and the amp's value is 1350$ so unless anyone can correct me on this Airmail Post is not an option.
