Cheapest guitar you actually play

Body came from a cat off this board. Neck came from my local guitar store parts box, but was a five string at the time, so I had to do a relatively tricky headstock repair and voila. About $50 into it. Plays great. Scale is perfect for me.

Here it is fresh from the pawn shop with strings missing and more smudges and dirt than I care to remember. I put some 11's on it and set the truss rod to perfection on this guitar. The action is so low that it seems like the neck was purpose built for those 11's. Finally got around to intonating it (I've been dreading it so long that I just put it off until I really had nothing else to do). Now it sounds/looks/plays like a million bucks. Only cost me $200 out the door. I'd gladly pay that amount again for another one just like it. I'd pay twice that much to be perfectly honest. It has the original floyd rose on it and it plays like butter.

Just bagged an Epiphone SG '65 model with Vibrola and this thing is making me smile. It was supposed to just be a cheap beater, bought it for £100 without any pick ups. Dropped in a '59b/ '57n and it sounded very unbalanced, and with Bluemans advice changed the '59 for a C5, and put an A4 mag in the '57 and well... I've been smiling ever since. always wanted an SG... a '65 model is a bonus. Has a big fat neck like my '57 R.I custom and it plays great. I can't believe how good this is for the money.

Dunno if it the way it is sitting in the picture, but it appears the pickups have an improper placement to the strings. The poles are out of alingment

That's REALLY cool! Did you do the paint yourself or did it come like that?

Do you ever feel the need for a bridge pickup?

I had an auto body shop do it...70 bucks

I do not really feel the need. it might be nice every once in a while...but I definitely don't feel like I coudl use one enough to justify it....its so nice to just plug and play

Re: Cheapest guitar you actually play

I have a Washburn Idol base model (WI14) payed 150.00 for it. I ripped out the stock pups and installed the hot rod set from SD. It plays great, matter of fact as far as action and feel it gives my Jackson a run for its money. The cheapest guitar i ever owned was a black Hondo flying V that i sold to by a ring for my girl. First life lesson I learned the hard way, Stick with the faithful friend not the two timing slut. Wished i had it back, From what i understand they are worth a good amount of money now.
