i fixed the hot rails today! it took about 3 hours worth of buying the solder and the coldheat soldering iron, (this thing kicks ass) soldering all the leads together, and then heat shrink tubing them so it doesnt come apart inside, but it was worth it! the hotrails gives a nice kick in the face to my amp when i switch to the bridge position! i love that its now completely hum free as well! the dimarzio in it before was a stacked humbucker but hummed like NUTS! check out the pictures!

i could not be any happier! im not going to buy a new strat now i liek the sound so much! i was going to get an american strat, at least 1k but im completely happy with the sound now! this totally made my week, at least!

I do believe you're the first person I've come across that likes that Cold Heat soldering iron for guitar work. Congrats on being happy w/ your axe .

i dont really like it actually haha. im just happy i didnt get burned i always do with a normal one. it took forever cuz it didnt heat up every time.

btw - How does the Hot Rails sound with the QP?

I bought one of those Cold heat irons too but i have yet to use it.... I wonder if it stays heated if you leave solder on the end of it when you are taking apart old connections?

if you keep it in contact and with slight pressure it will stay heated, i got the radioshack one i think they are all the same. mine has a red light that shows when its heated. it does heat virtually instantly, but since it cools virtually instantly too it can be a pain when you lose contact slightly and it cools off again.
