just a marketing ploy to sell more .. they're a bit outdated(not saying that they're bad)
but the XT > Pod2.0

I've got a POD 2.0 and love it, but there's no way I'd pay more to have a chrome one.

As for the chrome ones, they look cool but its kinda pointless. They've been out for a while and they do pop up on ebay every now and then.

Actually I'm pretty sure these came out as a limited edition several years ago..
