this was my bro-in laws beater guitar that he had not played in probably 20 years. Was missing strings, frets had huge dents in them and it was a mess. I cleaned it up, gave it a fret dress (my first one, weee!) and a set-up. Changed out the pickguard and plastics from white to black, added new CTS pots and a real switch. I also put in these $35 texas blues knockoff pickups from Stratosphere. Investment was mostly just spare parts and time and now it it's a fun little guitar. Not great. But so much better.

I would have updated the tuners cause they are awful but the tuner holes in the neck are offset in a weird way to accommodate these cruddy ones that you can't just drop in something good. I'm not up for plugging them all and re-drilling so I'll just live with that. Same thing with the tremolo. I would have replaced it as it is the flimsiest, thinnest thing out there but apparently Squier bodies are thinner than normal Fender bodies so a real, full size tremo block wouldn't fit. It would stick out of the bottom. Ha!

Anywho, fun little beater and something I'll let the kids play.

I have a Squier Esquire (LOL) that I love.

Squiers in generanl are kinda better than Epiphone, IMO. And cheaper. I guess it's the nature of the Fender design. Easier to produce for cheap, hence, less stuff to go wrong quality-wise.

How would I know? No markings on it that say bullet

Did I mention it's made of plywood? haha. So amazing

Ah, that highly regarded tonewood - plywood. Probably a good bet it's a Bullet series.

it's the all the plys that make it so resonant!

Honestly, having played it .....it's not great but it's really not bad. If I had a thicker trem and better tuners I think it'd be pretty darn good. I really like fancy woods of all types and I think there is truth to the tonewood debates but......only so far. I think it's what takes a good guitar to great or into a specific feel/sound that you want. It's for sure not the whole equation.

I used to have a plywood Epiphone that was REALLY loud accoustically. I bet it would've sounded good with some good pickups.

It was just the tuners, nut, and fretwork that was REALLY bad.
