Chime in SH-1 '59 Model Users

i always end up setting my lp neck pups about level with the ring these days. i used to crank things up much closer to the strings but i find the tone better with it lower, especially on the neck pup

The middle of the pickup sits about level with the ring. The edges obviously don't with the ring being curved.

I always wondered about the SSH+. What is it like? I've always wanted to find a JB that has a less rolled off top-end and less laid-back attack. Is the SSH+ like that?

One more time, I really think you might like the BKP Rebel Yell. It is very sensitive to height adjustment and responds well to raising the screw poles. It doesn't have the JB's wooly bloom on palm mutes in the low mids, but in other ways it's what I wish the JB was.

Rebel Yell is a great bridge. Plenty of cut and it sings - or screams. Less compressed than the JB, cleans up much better.
Articulate & flexible. (+100 on taking the time to tweak the height)
The RY neck is no slouch either.
Many of the BKP neck hums are underappreciated IMO.

I have had the 59'n for years now. It works well with the Sh-5 custom paired in the bridge, in my LP copy. I don't find it boomy here, it sounds open and with clear top end.
