Re: Chinese Gibson (69 Deluxe Gold top)

Mr.Geoffroy you have to decide what's right for you. Here are some alternative scenarios to consider. Go to a gas station and take money out of the cash register and use that to buy a real Les Paul. Or, if you see a blind person begging on the street, just take some money out of their bowl when they're not looking. Use that to buy a real Les Paul. Or just rob someone at gun point.

But with any of these scenarios, or your scenario of buying the counterfeit guitar, you're stealing. Plain and simple. And if you're considering buying a guitar with counterfeit Seymour Duncan pickups, you'll be stealing from the company that hosts the forum that you're spending time on.

You'll need to decide for yourself what's the right thing to do. Not just here, but throughout your life. Personally, I hope you decide to turn away from theft, and crime, and supporting criminal counterfeiters.

Re: Chinese Gibson (69 Deluxe Gold top)

As someone who has run around Central and South America, trying to check out music stores, I really do understand where the original poster is coming from. It's very bleak when trying to find good gear, because it's almost as if music instrument distributors have forgotten this part of the world.

It's actually made me consider trying to be a distributor down there, using the best shipping method Los Angeles has to offer....ship cargo....just like they use for cars.

A lot of us automatically want to dissuade Mr. Geoffrey from buying from one of the best distributors to South America...China. But, you've got to realize that there's only 2 cheap avenues down there..China, and homemade. If you live in Brazil, those are the two cheap options. Anything from US or Europe is like paying the price of a car for a guitar....when you realize their professionals make the money that a burger flipper makes here.

I totally understand where the OP is coming from, but also believe that the advise he's being given here is solid. Don't buy from those Chinese websites. Find good cheap guitars elsewhere.

If there's one thing that bothers me about shipping to Central or South America, it's that the industry hasn't been explored. US Postal service is almost non existent. Fedex is WAY EXPENSIVE, and the only other avenue is ship cargo. There's times when I think I should devote my life to starting a better shipping business from US to down south. It's so overdue!

man , you are totaly wrong .here in brazil we have a lot of musical instruments distributors , nobody has forgotten us. and import of the usa is a very cheap thing today , the dolar is very cheap.so if you don t know how the things are here , its better you don´t say anything.

Where did he condone the practice of buying counterfeit guitars? He said that he understands why someone would be inclined to do so. The OP after it was explained to him realizes now that its not a good idea.

Though seems that the OP contends there are plenty of USA made guitars in brazil. According to him the dollar is very cheap in brazil so the only reason to be buying one of those chinese rip offs is trying to save some cash... at the expense of ethics

I'm not saying he was. I'm just saying that hardship doesn't make it okay. Oh, the economy is bad, and times are tough, so it's okay if I rob a couple of convenience stores. Just one or two.

So much for somebody trying to be nice and helpful. I don't see any reason for you to even ask for help on here anymore with your disrespectful attitude.

Then you have no reason why you can't afford something better than a bottom-feeder fake. But if you're into it, I bet they have nice Rolexes, too.

Seems to be a trend with a few newer folks around here. Why ask for advice if you're going to be rude to people. I said something to a guy in the pickup lounge who was MUCH ruder and folks said, relax, it's tough to understand the humor around here right away. It's not hard to be courteous and not be rude.

A lot of people, often younger ones, don't like getting answers and advice they, well, don't like. And they're arrogant enough that they feel entitled to basically tell the other person to shut up if it looks like they know something the other person doesn't. Works the other way, though. Maybe the those who don't know how to be a little bit respectful are the ones who need to STFU.
