I recently bought a 86 US made Hamer chapparal custom mahogany body, set neck, short scale guitar.

I am going to install my personal favorite pickup on the bridge, the emg 85. I still haven't decided on the two singles. On one of my other guitars (93 US am. std.) i have two emg SA singles.....i like them but i find them to be a little dark sounding. Since the hamer should be pretty dark sounding i was thinking of going with the emg S or the Steve Lukather singles...or even the emg SV... which ones would be better??..Would they be better suited for a dark sounding guitar or should i stay with the SA's???Any member with experience with emg single coils other than the SA???? I must say i only use the middle and neck positions for playing cleans.....i am not using them under distortion........

I felt the SAV's gave the brightest most traditional tone out of the EMG singles. If getting close to a strat tone is what you want, those would be your pickups.

i like the sv the best of the emg singles, its got a smoother dirty tone than a traditional single coil but the clean tone is very stratty
