Re: Choose the AMP!!!!

To quote Saturday Night Live..."I don't wanna eat, drive, or have sex with any of those!" :laugh2:

Seriously, the Roland is the only one on the list that piques my interest.

Re: Choose the AMP!!!!

I voted for the marshall but, none of them are really my thing.

Re: Choose the AMP!!!!

this is the part of the show where I come off as a complete ass but I thought this was an amp pole...I see a Boat anchor, a door stop, a very big paper weight and a not so good Fender amp...so if we're voting for the best amp the Fender amp gets my vote.

Re: Choose the AMP!!!!

Isssh.. the HRDeluxe is my choice, but damn! why these 4 models in particular ? There are better amp out there for the same $$.

Re: Choose the AMP!!!!

Which amp would I choose to do what....set on fire?

Re: Choose the AMP!!!!

Hey, whoa! Settle, gents. :blackeye:

I never said I was going to buy any of these amps, my friend is. We went shopping around yesterday for amps and we played these, which are within his means here in town (new) and he liked what these amps did. That's why these particular models are on this particular poll. I assume that everyone who posted has at least played some of these amps, right? :scratchch

Such heated negative responses must come because of personal experience. :burnout:

Thanks for the help, gents. ;)

Hmm. Let be honest. Played 3 of 4. HotRod, Marshall MG and Fender Stage.

I dont care at all for Marshall MG. Cheap and unreliable, made in the "china" Marshall plant in UK ;)

Fender Stage 1600: all SS. That sucks. Still sterile sounding. Harsh sound. "handcrafted fender dsp efx" <--- LOL

Roland VGA 7 : I simply hate modeling amps. They can be jack-of-all-trades, but you rarely get a good tone out of them. I like the sound of my electrical razor better. :P Never heard of that particular model, so I guess there's nothing magical about them. Think resale value too.

HotRod Deluxe : IMHO, that'd be a wise choice. All tube (except reverb), likes pedals, classic fender clean tube tone, nice reverb, "more drive" isnt that great, but can do the job.

Re: Choose the AMP!!!!

Thank you very much for the info Thames. :) I've played the VGA7 and it's (IMO) one of the better modelers ou there. The reason it's not vey widspread is that it's made to work with the GK2A pickup (most people don't have it) and was prohibitively expensive when it rolled out (near $2K). The reason it's in the poll is that I can get my friend a new one for cheap. Real cheap. :burnout:

BTW, I'm also trying to push my friend towards the HRD, but he doesn't like tubes.

Go figure.

Exactly my thoughts. I'd definately get the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe out of the 4 amps listed.

Re: Choose the AMP!!!!

Fender Hot Rod Deluxe - Best choice, all tube. Sounds good (why do all these people bash it), gets a good nice little growl when overdriven.

Roland VGA 7 - never tried it.

Marshall MG250DFX - Poo. As 2 people said before, no marshalls really do anything for me.

Fender Stage 1600 - SS = seriously subpar. I have a stage 112se at the moment which is essentially the same amp. Alrite cleans, Distortion is ok if your used to 30$ stompboxes.
