Hey all,
Just wanted to let you guys know that I finally installed my new chubtone pickups that I've had lying around for almost two months. They are '63 neck and middle pickups and an El Gordo bridge pickup (overwound). All are A5 pickups.
These sound fantastic. I tried them in my 2002 Ash American Strat and all I can say is these are the best strat pickups I've ever played for vintage type stuff. Of course, I have an Ant I in another pickguard to be loaded next, heheh. In the past, I've played on real vintage Fender pups, most of Fenders 'vintage style' pups (like Fat 50's), Texas Specials, etc. as well as multiple DiMarzio offerings, Rio Grandes, you name it. These really take the cake though. Just great, chimey tone. Really Hendrix-esque. Also does Pink Floyd very well.
The worst thing is that Michael Gray (the winder) told me (more like warned me) that he wound up the bridge pickups in sets to match, but I'm always suspicious, b/c when using the Fender sets that are 'calibrated' I've been disapointed. As a result, I got the El Gordo, which is a great sounding pickup, but is just a little too high output for the other two. I hope he'll sell me the regular '63 bridge :smack: The vibe of these pickups is just awesome.
Anyway, for those of you who are looking for something that meets the above description, please check this guy out. He has great sounding pickups and ships them out fast. Also, he answered multiple e-mails from me, usually within the same afternoon.
