Clapton's ES-335

Re: Clapton's ES-335

Funny. I was just thinking to myself, "You know, we really need more signature model guitars available."

Maybe Fender would be willing to put out a KGMESSIER signature model. It's an all-stock MIM Strat with Elixir strings and real locking tuners. Ooooo. That'll fetch a pretty penny.

Re: Clapton's ES-335

Looks lovely... but I wouldn't splash out on one, when I could have a cherry Epi 335 with Duncans in it. Or maybe a Gibson Trini Lopez, for those Foo Fighter moments...

Re: Clapton's ES-335

I just got a brochure in the mail from GC yesterday and they are advertising this already. What do you think it will go for??? I gotta think 10K minimum.

Re: Clapton's ES-335

I'm starting to be ashamed of playing Gibson's all my life!
The funniest line was the "particularly labor intensive" part about making a beat-up case! Hell, I can make one look like that in about 10 minutes! Just take it out and kick it up and down the street for awhile! Sorry, if I buy a new guitar, I want the case to look new too!
Oh, I forgot, the beat up case makes playing " Sunshine of your Love "sound just like the record!

I "heard" it was going to be sold at 12K in the US. GC has dibs on 150 of them for the US.

I just don't get these signature models, I could not care less.

And does Clapton have enough endorsements, good god!

Fender & now Gibson too, that is amazing, just shows that he has truly become the guitar icon of all time when he can have signature models with both the Hatfields & the McCoys of guitardom!

I've always really like Claptons playing, he is excellent, but there are guys that are better. Although Cream & the Dominos are enough to cement his legend, he has basically coasted for 30 years and really put out some crappy pop stuff from mid 70's to late 80's.

Re: Clapton's ES-335

here we go again, gibson charging more than a CAR on a guitar!!!
I wonder what the QC on these will be....

Re: Clapton's ES-335

Sure....it's unreasonably priced.

But no one can tell me that they won't sell.

Re: Clapton's ES-335

I once saw him play the real ES 345 (as far as I remember it was the stereo model). It was with Cream in 1968. Clapton had two Marshall stacks, big sunglasses, and was real cool. His sound was great, but not worth a car.
