Classic 57s or 496/500t in LP Classic?

Hey guys,

This is a followup to my other thread about Classic 57s(thanks for the thoughts!). I'm about to pull the trigger on an LP Classic. The guy has put Classic 57s in it but offered to swap them back to the original 496/500t pups. It is likely they'll get Seymourized anyways, but which pair of pups would you choose? Part of the equation is probably which pups would be easier to sell on the open market, too, but if one set is clearly a superior pup I might end up liking what it comes with.

Thanks!

Mike

I'd go with the 57's. When I bought my LP the previous owner had a 490R/500T combo in it. I didn't much care for the 500. It was too harsh and a bit generic sounding to me. I've never tried the 57's meself, but I'd like to at some point.

If you're dead set on going Seymour anyway, you can probably get more money for the 57's than for the 500T/496R.

But if you like a more vintage tone, the 57's might pleasantly surprise you.

I'm guessing it would be easier to sell the '57s, the 500t would have more output and be better for hard rock stuff, let us know what you decide.

Rock On :headbang:
