Clestion Lynchback and Creamback!

Re: Clestion Lynchback and Creamback!

Cool, thanks! It is a lot of money since I don't see a Lynchback used anywhere and the Creamback will be released in mid June so I will be buying both new, $169 and $118...so basically over $300 with shipping. If not this, I would go WGS....but I have been such a devoted Celestion user my entire life it feels weird deviating. They give me what I want.

Re: Clestion Lynchback and Creamback!

Why mix those 2...they are voiced the same and something that similar is sort of a waste of speaker mixing IMHO.

Why not one of those and an H30 or V30 or something with a different sonic footprint??

Cool, not a V30 since I already have a 212 witgh two v30S That I love. H30 lacks power but Celestion is releasing a high powered H30 soon.
I was also thinking of just getting a WGS Vet30 and ET65 which I used to have an loved....or two WGS Invaders.

Maybe a trad style G1265...those are cool, a bit darker than Greenbacks...

I just don't see the point in 2 speakers that are voiced like a Greenback mixed.

Celestion says the two mix very well...but my cabs are semi open back.

They have similar low end, except the CB's have traditional Greenback mids whereas the Lynchback may seem a bit more scooped (but not to the point of sounding overly modern). They still have a vintage vibe. The CB's sound like a Heritage GB with a bigger punchier low-end. We did this so they would sound 'big' in both 1x12 or 2x12 cabs, open or closed.
The Lynchback is more aggressive and the Creamback is warmer, they mix well together.

Better buy the Lynchback now while you can. That dude changes endorsements like underwear. It may be out of production in a month.

After lots of talking with friends and cab builders....I am going two LBs

Re: Clestion Lynchback and Creamback!

Celestions says...

The Creamback has ‘vintage’ attributes so may become a little unrefined with hard rock. Obviously great with rock though they don’t like an excess of gain. I’d be tempted to pair the Lynchback with a G12-65 Heritage for a good deep clean bottom end sound with a full though not shouty midband and well rounded top from the 65 and grit and sparkle from the Lynchback. The Lynchback and Creamback would be a good match though and more similar at the top end but would suffer a bit when pushed. All speakers work ok in open, semi open or closed configurations, they all sound different though and you need to choose which one sounds the best to you.

Soooooo, I changed my mind!

I am ordering Creambacks after talking with Celestion and watching these reviews and clips. So, that will give me three options going forward and I think I am all set with cabs for a long time!
Bogner 212OS with Celestion Vintage 30s
Stone Age 212C with Celestion Creambacks
THD 212 with Celestion G12K-100s

Re: Clestion Lynchback and Creamback!

I'm not convinced. I do like what I've heard of the Lynchbacks. Especially the clip with them and the trainwreck together.

As with any speaker though, a lot is going to depend on your amp and guitar as how they respond. It's a won't know til ya try kind of thing.

Re: Clestion Lynchback and Creamback!

Pairing a Lynchback and a G12-65 would be superfluos. The Lynchback is just a tweaked G12-65 for the most part; A little tighter bottom/clearer top . The V30 Pairs well with the G12-65, so it should work with the Lynchback.
Putting the 30's in with the Lynchback would defeat its purpose IMO, since George said he was lookig to tighten up the sponginess of the Blackback Greenbacks( and G12H-30's also I presume), and add some clarity to the top end.

Wow, so they are going to release the G12h-30 in a high power spec? Thats

Well I am ordering the new Creambacks. My buddy was at the New York amps show and heard them with various Marshall type amps and loved it. I will try em. Will report back. They are pretty much a Heritage Greenback beefed up.

Yes, they are releasing a high power G12H30.
