Clip on Tuner

I picked up one of these "intellitouch" tuners. It clips onto the headstock. So far, I'm happy with it. I figured I'd probably take it back, but the darn thing works very well. Nice design, nice carrying case, looks like it won't be getting returned any time soon. I'll still use my stobostomp when I'm home, but for acoustics and on the road stuff, this is nice.

Actually, you can get a clip on contact mic for use with any tuner with a 1/4" jack. I use the Korg CM-100 with the Korg CA-19 and a Boss TU-12. For about $12 street, you can upgrade any tuner with a contact mic.

Those clip-on tuners are a GODSEND if you're trying to tune an acoutic guitar while everyone else is blasting away making their noise . . .

i use this planet waves tuner-up. You put your tuner on it, connect the tuner-up and hang it into the soundhole. Same principle as a clip on mic or the clip-on tuners, but it uses a piezo and imo is more solid than the other two.

I've thought about grabbing one of those myself. The only time I actually use a tuner is when setting intonation. Other than that, after a restring, I'll tune it up to one of my other guitars. I saw a guy using it with his electric as well. He just turned the guitar all the way down, clipped it on and tuned. I guess for those that don't want anything between the guitar and amp other than a chord, that's a great thing to have.

I had one of those for a while. Worked great in a quite space but got a bit wiggy when the bass player and drummer were warming up.
