I think I can answer that. Original Fender necks, if you can get them from a dealer, will cost $350-$450, and you can only really get one if there;s a defect in the original neck and Fender is replacing it.

On the other hand, Warmoth, USA Custom, and Musikraft will build you a neck totally to your specs- fretwire size, fretboard radius, back profile, neck and fingerboard wood, double action truss rod, starting at around $160. These three companies supply neck and bodies for other manufacturers as well, like Pensa Suhr, Yamaha.

As far as fitting your Kramer, check the width of the neck pocket- if it's 2 3/16", then it's a standard Fender spec neck pocket and any of the above mentioned three companies will fit. If it's 2 1/4", then Musikraft is the only one that offers a neck with that width as an option.

Oh- forgot to mention- the quality of these three companies necks is superior to Fender, unless it's a Custom shop Fender

Wow. This thread is still going strong. Looks like this one was a big hit, Mike.

There's just something unavoidable about a bright pink guitar. It's like a fully customized '30s coupe passing you on the road - you just have to stop and watch.

wow, you're right Jackson, i guess the crazy pink was a good choice! i know i like it, it's just cool to see others with a wild open mind to a bit of an 80's flashback!

this has made me decide to go wild with my color choice on another Clone. i ordered a new body for Clone #001 since that body was made by a random company and not the same as the rest. so a nice 1pc alder body is on the way and the color for it will be just a wild as this yet no fear of being "girly" hahaha. granted i may change my mind by time it gets here LOL but chances are good it's going to be a wild one too!

Dr.Mavashi: i think jmh covered most of it. however, you can score a real fender neck off ebay if you wanted and it should fit fine. if i'm not mistaken all kramers have a 2 3/16" pocket, i don't think they ever used the larger 2 1/4" like Charvel/Jackson and Wayne.

That guitar kicks ass. I especially like how the volume knob is out of the way and that the Floyd is non-recessed. I've always liked NR Floyds for how the strings sit just a little bit higher away from the body.

Xssive- if you're building another guitar you should try this- instead of the old fashioned wood screws to bolt on the neck, these are threaded machine bolts. I just installed them on my kit, they give you a much tighter neck joint with more sustain and resonance- you can tighten the neck alot more with these than you can with the old fashioned wood screws.

There's a cheap $20 copy on E-bay which I used. It does the job but the bolts aren't polished up nicely like this one. Best of all it makes switching necks easier

P.S.- does anyone know why Jackson, Charvel and Wayne use the 2 1/4 neck pocket? Is there a functional reason or is it just to be different from Fender specs?

thanks guys!

JM: i've seen those inserts before but to be honest i like the goold ol' wood screw way, nice and simple.

as for the 2 1/4" heel i think it started due to the floyd rose trem to give more fingerboard wood next to the strings at the upper frets which it does do.

It should fit since as far as I know Kramers used a 2 3/16" neck pocket. If that's an import, ESP made the neck.
