Coil Tap / Splitting / Phasing

hey, i just bought 2 Push/Pull 500k w/DPDT Pots for my Epiphone les paul along with a new seysmour duncans, cannot wait to get them installed.
Just Wondering, what are the difference between coil tapping, splitting and phasing.? Is coil tappign and splitting the same where the humbucker is split into a single coil. and is phasing just where u have the single coils in phase to give that "strat quack"?
I've got 2 humbuckers in my paul, can i have like splitting and phasing in the paul?.

Tapping and Splitting are the same thing (Although you can also get tapped sigle coils, so you can have high/low output, but usually it means splitting)

Phasing puts the PU's out of phase for a kinda thin tone, I haven't done it myself so I can't be more specific. (You can either do this to 1 PU by putting the 2 coils out of phase with each other or both pickups out of phase with each other)

Splitting can only be done to HBs, basically turns it into a single coil.

Tapping is the same in concept as splitting, it basically taps into an area of the coil on a pickup to where there are fewer and more coils.

Phasing- basically the pickup is backwards.

Splitting yields a more stratty sound (quacky, brighter)
Phasing yields a more tele sound. (twangy, brighter)
tapping yields lower/higher output

Does that mean i if i have 2 push/pull pots i can split and have phasing in a 2 humbucker paul. Or just Splitted or phased.

if you have 2 push pull pots in a 2hb paul, you can have a split / phasing on each pickup. Or you can have full/split on each pickup. Or full/phasing. The options are endless

I suggest push pull pots, rather than switches just for asthetic reasons.

Actually...

I suggest two 3 way dpdt switches. That way you can wire for normal/split/phase on each pickup. Then you can find out for yourself what they do to tone

i've already bought the 2 push/pull pots. What can i do?.
Can i have it such that, one pot splits both humbuckers, and another puts both humbuckers in phasing.
Is that possible?

Yes. You can use one PP to split both pups. Since "phasing" is done to only one pup, you can use the other PP to reverse the phase of one pup - relative to the other. Of course, if you mean to reverse one coil of one humbucker, you can only do one, with one PP.

I don't quite understand the parth about the phasing and reversing the phase.
If i use one PP to split both the humbuckers, what do i do with the other PP?.
