So...from what I am reading certain guitars do drive certain color choices for some folks so it's not just me...lol.
I'm with you on at least one preference - fancy graphics on a Les Paul just don't work for me.
I like solids and trans finishes on just about anything myself, but am more picky about sunbursts.
Over the years I wound up with more in black than any other color. Not deliberately, it just worked out that way.
I don't have any neon colors, or yellow (except for age-yellowed white), or pink. Used to have a hot pink Kramer Duke in the 80s.
These days the only pink I'd want would be a shell pink Fender. Or coral maybe.
Although now that I think of it, Burgundy Mist is really more like dark pink than actual purple.
My color count in descending order: black, various sunbursts, naturals, reds, blues, various whites ranging from Arctic to ivory, greens,
golds, oranges, purples, browns, silvers, and one each of red + white and Burgundy Mist + white
It is pretty rare they are painted isn't it?

My color quirks (admittedly on the conservative side):
- Red, black, white & natural for SG's.
- Flame tops & black for LP's.
- Black, natural, & white for V's.
- Black, white, red, and natural for 335's.
- Red, black, white & natural for SG's.

Thanks. It's not as bad as I thought it would be. The finger prints come off with a dry rub with a soft cloth, the sweat streaks are worse.
It's not the best finish for someone who has ocd, that's for sure.
Where did you even find that? Was it a special series?

I woke up one morning burning with desire, desire for an aluminium guitar so I set about searching. I settled on a company out of New York called Alumisonic and placed the order. They are listed as temporarily closed right now. If they open again I wouldn't hesitate to order another one, I was treated well. The model is a 1100 custom has a Custom V and 59 neck, made of chrome plated 6061 aluminium.
Is it heavy?

I would think the HUGE majority are clear coated natural.
Sure most were but there were still plenty of painted fender headstock, especially in the eighties for strats. Mustangs, Jaguars, jazzmasters and teles also have eras when it was popular.
