Combination HB/SC

Greetings people!
I need some input on the never ending question: What pickups should I buy?
I decided to bring my old Peavey Vandenberg to life by exchanging the stock pups with something new. Its the combination of HB/SC I'm pretty unsure of, hope you guys can provide me with enough info so I can decide. Feel free to suggest any brand, SD, Dimarzio, Bareknuckles... Anything but EMG. I've got a set of EMG's in anither guitar already and want to go passive this time.

Guitar specs:
Alder Body
Maple Neck, Ebony Fretboard, 24 frets, bolt on
Kahnler tremolo
1 Alnico humbucker(bridge), 1 singlecoil(neck)

The sound I want:
I play mainly metal.
I'm thinking a high output bridge-humbucker where you can rip those palm-muting riffs and HEAVY power chords. Tight distortion...
For the singlecoil in the neck I'd like something that would sound good for solos. I like solos that really sings, with lots of sustain when you use plenty of distortion with some delay. But, and this is important, I need the singlecoil to be able to sound nice clean. Occasionally I play very clean stuff, almost jazzy like...
I understand it can be hard to match tese criterfias, but hey, if some people should know, it's probably you guys at this great forum...

So bring em on... Eeehhh, the suggestions I mean.

Custom in the bridge and a Cool Rails in the neck!

I was going to say the same thing as Dave, but just to play the devil's advocate, how about a Duncan Distortion at the bridge and a Hot Rail at the neck. Get a push/pull pot for coil splitting and you'll get crushing OD tones and sparkly cleans. :burnout:

Anyway, I've been looking at DiMarzios (X2n/ProTrack), SD (Distortion/HotRail) but now I'm leaning towards Bareknuckles (MiracleMan/Trilogy)...

The more I think the more confused I get, pros/cons, why's/why not's...
I wish there would be a way to bring home a bunch and try them out. No, I can't use the SD guarantee either, I'm not in the US...
