Companies going above and beyond

Re: Companies going above and beyond

Not my story but I've heard issues about Halo Guitars' quality control in the past. There's a pretty infamous story about a guy who got a string through body 8 string that didn't have a spot on the back of the guitar to put the strings in. Halo built him a brand new instrument and when he sold the original, they tracked down that guy and built him one too.

Gerber Knives - break anything, you'll get a new one in two days.
Voodoo Lab - often send out specialized cables to use with their Pedal Power.

Planet Waves does have an awesome respect for their clients.

I once had a Trim Lok tuner crapping out (a bit of string got stuck inside the locking mechanism). After contacting the company to try and figure out how to remove it, in return they asked for my address (company is US based, I'm in Portugal, Europe), and informed me they would be sending a NEW SET of tuners free of charge and shipping.

From then on, all my tuners and straps are PW.

Wow! Now thats something!!!

Agreed that this is a good thread! We are quick to grumble. Years working customer service also taught me that when someone is unhappy, they tell like 20 people.. When happy, they may tell 2.

I cant think right now of a really good DID me right story at the moment. I will say that I havent often thrown my biz toward Sweetwater, as I often find the item at a lower price. However, they treat you great! Fast service, organized folder for your receipt, candy and a rep that calls to check on you to see if they can help you.

The first person, I understand.. You order a guitar and it arrives with no holes in which to string it.. (which makes me kinda skeptical, as you would think they would ship with strings on it and would have noticed when trying to string it........ hmmm. But, the second buyer obviously knew it was flawed..

I guess somehow it had gotten strung by putting the strings underneath the bridge and then screwing the bridge down. Rebuilding the guitar for the original owner was an obvious thing, but the fact that they went through the trouble of findin g the second owner and offering to build a new guitar for him for free is what stood out to.

The bridge probably also allowed conventional stringing from top like Ibanez Gibraltar Standard.

I hope they took that thing out of circulation so they could stop building free guitars for people.

They sent me a free sheath for a Gator I bought used on eBay. Kershaw is awesome, too. Defective stuff is replaced free, and they'll replace abused blades for $10.

Mojotone really impressed me. When I needed help they stood by their products. Also had great experiences with Dave at Avatar, Jim at Lil Dawg, the folks at Mesa Boogie, and have never needed to contact Seymour Duncan as their stuff hasn't broken, does what it says and sounds good out of the box.
