Stomp box compression.
How is the MXR dyna comp compared to a ross clone, say the Keeley. Its much cheaper. Are there any other good, but not too expensive compressions that i can consider?

www.buildyourownclone.com sells a Ross compressor kit, if you're handy with a soldering iron. It's 75 bucks for the kit. They sell it prebuilt for 130 dollars too. IIRC, its not that difficult of a build. Maybe you'd be interested in buying the kit, or prebuilt?
will the clone sound good? I've wanted to get into the whole electronics thing, but i haven't had any experience. You think it'll be okay if i give it a go for my first shot?
Those three are very similar pedals. The Dyna-comp was/is a slightly altered copy of the Ross and the Keeley is a straight-up copy with upgraded components.
Original Ross compressors cost a small fortune these days (I've seen one sell at 1k on ebay) so I'll assume that's not an option. The MXR re-issue is what MXR re-issues all seem to be: decent but not great, and this one sometimes has a noise issue. The Keeley and Analogman clones are better, but more expensive. If you're on a budget, I've heard good things about the Aphex Punch Factory, but it's not really a vintage Ross-style comp. Hope that helps...

If you want, I've got some experience building these kits and also building some pedals on my own. Right now I'm building a rangemaster clone for William Walstra and I'm almost done, as well as got three pedals on the backburner for myself as well. If you want, I can either build the kit for you (since I live in the states), or buy the parts on my own and build it for you?
