Concrete Jungle - Black Label Society

Re: Concrete Jungle - Black Label Society

I would hazard a guess that he's using his Gibson Les Paul customs (signature models) into some effects (forget which but he probably has his Dunlop sig wah and MXR ZW44 in there) through his Marshall JCM 800 2203 sig heads modded with 6550's and into Marshall cabs.

Someone else might correct me though.

Okay thanks for the good list. :) I didn't know there was a signature JCM out.

Re: Concrete Jungle - Black Label Society

I heard that track on his site. Not bad.

Sounds like he's using the usual gear; sig model LP Customs, sig model JCM800 2203 (was done in limited numbers, can't get them new anymore), MXR Wylde OD, MXR Chorus, Univibe, Wylde Wah, probably an Octaver in there, EVH Phase 90. That's pretty much his whole pedalboard.

The amps are not modified to accept 6550's. Some of the JCM800's originally came with 6550's after being shipped to the US because the EL34's were not holding up during the trip from England to the US. So you could say that originals in the US were modified, because they were by Unicord to accept the sturdier 6550's, but in all accounts, the ZW sig amps are 100% stock because they were built to accept them in the first place.

Re: Concrete Jungle - Black Label Society

I forgot to mention his MXR Wylde Overdrive. As far as I know he replaced his SD-1 with that when MXR made it for him.

I don't think he uses the MXR overdrive, but I could be wrong. He uses korg tuners and an MXR stereo chorus

Re: Concrete Jungle - Black Label Society

Ohh...Well if anyone can make it sound good then it would be Zakk.

LOL....not a fan of that OD, huh? I have it and the SD-1 and it took me to modding my SD-1 to get it to sound half as good. The Wylde OD is meant to push Marshalls over the edge, and it does that in spades.

Re: Concrete Jungle - Black Label Society

I noticed ZW was using one those mouth thingies that Frampton used on that crap, I mean great album "Frampton Comes Alive." ;)

Don't get me wrong now I saw Frampton with Bowies band and he is a great player.

Re: Concrete Jungle - Black Label Society

I thought he was using the Krankenstein (?) amps with his signature distortion pedal.
lol, don't think so, unlike a lot of other metal bands today Zakk's motto is "Bleed Marshall"... I guess bleed everything else, but still he swears by his Marshalls unless something has changed.
