Congratulions ledzepp29, you're %$#@ing idiot...

Re: Congratulions ledzepp29, you're %$#@ing idiot...

I just got off the phone with my dad.
I am going to see if my mom and I can meet with her lawyer person first thing tomorrow and see who we can contact, he's gotta know?

My dad also recommended that maybe if I got the right people invloved I could keep both of my bogus transactions going and agree to send a WU, then send a payment of $6 instead of $630. Then maybe somehow western union could set it up so that his name is tagged in the system so that whenever he goes to pick it up they know they have the guy.
Is this kind of thing possible? I mean if my mom can get her lawyer to get the right people invloved?

Re: Congratulions ledzepp29, you're %$#@ing idiot...

I just asked my fiance', who's from Honduras, about Brasil. She said the theft problem is SO bad down there, that tourists can't even go to the beach without banditos running outta nowhere and grabbing their car keys and cameras.
She said it's one of the most crime ridden rat holes south of the border.

Also, the Western Unions and banks are unaccountable because they're just as corrupt as the corrupt government that runs their country. The theives in those countries have ruined it for the honest people. US businesses don't have anything to do with South or Central America for this reason, other than exploiting their poor people in sweat shops. The corruption is from the top to the bottom, and they make up rules as they go. You can buy a house down there, make all your payments, then a bank rep comes to your house and tells you that you have 3 days to vacate the premises because the owner of the bank ran to Spain with all the money. That's how F'ed it is down there!

I think your idea is a good one. If the authorities can be notified in his city, and his name is tagged, then you send $4, they could snag him.

The good news about these 3rd world countries is that prison sucks.
If there's a chance of getting him, he'll be thrown into a jail with murderers with tattoos all over their faces.

That is pretty much the only way I suppose you could go about it. Also your mom's lawyer would have to have some real good connections because really it is outside of US jurisdiction which is what really makes this problem tough (as I'm sure you know).

If you can somehow get Brazilian Police support to actually do something when Western Union flags him, you might have something. See if you can find others whom have been ripped off by him as well, you acting alone might not be enough to alarm to police, but if you can make him into a bigger catch for the police there you could probably expect more support from them.

Good Luck

Re: Congratulions ledzepp29, you're %$#@ing idiot...

joneser, it sounds like anarchy!!
I think we will consult my moms lawyer and see what he says is possible. He will know for sure whether or not its possible.
If it is inevitable that there is nothing we can do, I will mark it up as a harsh and shocking lesson learned.

I agree with the statement about just letting it go, because it will eat away at me, I know it will, it already is.

Re: Congratulions ledzepp29, you're %$#@ing idiot...

Just a couple of questions

1.) How long ago did you send the money?

Depending on the time frame it may not be a scam. If it's been a week without contact I've seen worse but it is unpleasant, but out of country as well. If it's been 4 weeks without contact after you sent the money I'd be more than worried

2.) Didn't the price of the amp get you a little concerned?

$900 US for a Matamp is a really low price for a Matamp even second hand from what I know ... to me that would have set off "If it looks to good to be true" alarm

I'm sorry you are going through this right now ... another thing to remember is that post from North America to South America can take months even by air mail. Hence why I don't ship or buy anything from down there (sorry guys ... but 7 months for a parcel was ... I'm not going to say it)

how would I go about finding others? I can't use harmony-central, he might see it and catch on?

I sent the money on sunday, but it doesn't matter I know he;s scamming me because I sent him a bogus email asking if the matamp was still available and he said yes.

Also you are perfectly right about the price and everything, hence my reason for the name of the thread....

try using the search feature on the forum, don't post anything but see if you can find posts of complaints.

I searched "scam brazil" I found one thread from march, it was a guy asking if a 5150 head from brazil was legit. He included pictures so I emailed the scammer and asked for pics of the 5150 and I'm gonna see if they match up. If they do I'll email the person who started the thread and see if they made a deal and got scammed. If they didn't than I have nothing, right?

Re: Congratulions ledzepp29, you're %$#@ing idiot...

right

also take it easy on emailing this scammer. This is gonna be like reeling in a fish, if you try to bring him in too quick, you'll break the line.

Re: Congratulions ledzepp29, you're %$#@ing idiot...

Man, this is just so ****ing messed up :argh: :dammit: I feel your agony ledzepp29! I see there were a few "red flags'' on the deal there. Harmony-Central, Western Union, yahoo e-mail address (impossible to trace) and the price of the amp.
Sad truth is, if the Brazilian authorities bust this ****er, will he be able to return your money?
Man this is making me so mad, i want to do something to help. If this transaction was on ebay, this son of a bitch would have never gotten away with this crap.
I'm sorry for all the cussing and stuff. I just can't help getting so pissed off whenever something like this happens.
Hang in there ledzepp29, you'll get through this.

Re: Congratulions ledzepp29, you're %$#@ing idiot...

Call Western Union And Alert Them Immediately!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Congratulions ledzepp29, you're %$#@ing idiot...

Zepp, keep working at it and dont accept the defeat, by any means. Its unfortunate that you R going through this. My thoughts are here for you.

Look at it this way, you may not be the first person he's scammed and you may not be the last. But if you've been smart enough to get his information through bogus emails, than you'll be wise enough to somehow stop him from scamming other people.

I am gonna think of some ways in which to help.

Keep in mind that even though you dont have a name, you have every thing else. Now assume that that information is true. You now know where he works, a fone number, and a zip code, etc....

Talk to the lawyer first before deciding on what to do. A good lawyer will give you good advice.

Remember, if he did it to you, he'll do it to someone else.

Angelo.

Re: Congratulions ledzepp29, you're %$#@ing idiot...

whoa...that's absolutely terrible man!!!

i hope something can be done...i wish there was more i could do...good luck though...and keep us posted!!!

it's too bad someone can't make a trip to the place where he picks up the bogus western union and follow him home and at least see if he has the amp or the money or something!!

Re: Congratulions ledzepp29, you're %$#@ing idiot...

on bogus email #1 for the 5150 head he offered using moneygram, which is the same thing as western union except they don't have nearly as many pickup locations. I checked their locator and this is the only 2 locations they have in betim

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1.) BANCO ITAU BETIM BETIM SHOPPING Hours of Operation
AV E M LAZAROTTI 1655LJS
BETIM, BRAZIL 32650- 010
Phone: Phone Number is not available

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2.) BANCO ITAU BETIM MG Hours of Operation
R RIO DE JANEIRO 405
BETIM, BRAZIL 32510- 030
Phone: Phone Number is not available
and correct me if I'm wrong but when you write the receivers city and country, they are only able to retrieve that money in that city correct? So that means their are only 2 places he can pick up the moneygram, which would be an easy setup.

I'm gonna call western union, since he probably scammed more than a couple people with his ads, that means there might still be WU's coming to his name, so if WU is notified with his name(s) maybe they could catch him that way as well

in the mean time my mom and I are going down to the sherriffs office with all the emails and receipts and seeing what they recommend to do. thanks again

Re: Congratulions ledzepp29, you're %$#@ing idiot...

That really really sucks.

The good side is that you have all his info, so if the legal side doesn't work out, the 'get someone to do your dirty work for you ' side will... if you believe in that kind of thing. :)

Good luck!
