I think you should go with whatever feels right. If it has the feel you want with the look you like, you can mod the sound (probably) to fit your needs.

This is why I always play inexpensive imported guitars at gigs. I'm forever getting compliments to the effect that, while I may suck as a player, at least I'm not pretentious. : party:

God bless ya. Pretentious players (lousy players with high-end gear) are typically the least liked guys in any given venue. If you don't know how to use it, it doesn't matter what it cost.

Oh this reminds me of a local ****** bag who plays a les paul studio and a silver burst SG into a mesa stiletto...

and he can't play for ****.
