Control Hole Plugs

Anyone know where I can find the control hole plugs like those used on the D!ck Dale Strat? I can't even think of a proper name for them to do a search... Here's a pic I found of the DD Strat so you know what I'm talking about:

Re: Control Hole Plugs

I love the **** dale strat... I always just thought they were carriage bolts

personally the lack of knobs is one of its only turn offs :laugh2: to me

Re: Control Hole Plugs

Anytime I've wanted to cover an unused control hole, I've always just super glued a dime, or a nickle over it. Although to get a look closer to the **** dale strat, you could just use some little round mirrors (they sell em in the craft section of hobby lobby, joanne fabric, michaels, etc...).

Or go to a hardware store and pickup some short bolts, and nuts, and just use them instead. I remember seeing some bolts at lowes that were round, and had no screwdriver slot on them. Could probably just polish em up if ya really want em shiny.

Truthfully, pennys, or little mirrors would be way easyer though. An probbably look just as good.

Re: Control Hole Plugs

Hardware stores that have a decent amount of hardware (screws, hinges, etc) carry metal and plastic plug covers...ya just snap them in.

Re: Control Hole Plugs

just order a new guard from warmoth with NO knob holes and drill your own where you want them. that's what i do with all my strat style guitars since i hate 3 knobs on a strat. the damn volume is so close to the bridge pickup i hit it all the time. grated it will be more $ than some caps but at least it will look better.

Re: Control Hole Plugs

I've always wondered just what the plug on the DD strat is that's right next to the switch... why drill a hole just to plug :D Maybe I should ask him... I've been wanting to see **** live for a while now, but circumstances keep intervening

I would guess that there was something there (custom wired switch perhaps?) at one time, and he eventually got rid of it. The Fender Custom Shop probably put in the plug for authenticity's sake.

I actually want to plug a hole some idiot drilled in the face of a Kramer I'm trying to resurect, so there's no pickguard...

I'll post whatever I find works.

it pisses me off how many guitar companies put that knob so close to the bridge its un ****ing believable.

You too? I know the feeling. Some moron put a tone control in my Baretta before I got hold of it. You can see where it was real good in this pic. It was the best I could find at the time and I just left it that way.
