Control knobs on a Black Les Paul custom

Re: Control knobs on a Black Les Paul custom

The gold ones look okay with the gold hardware--but nothing beats black speed knobs on a black Les Paul--whether Custom, Standard or anything else.

That said--it is your guitar.

+1. I don't think you can improve on black-on-black LPC look. Nothing's as elegant and sophisticated.

Re: Control knobs on a Black Les Paul custom

The only knob other than a black speed knob that looks right to me on a LPC is a black bell knob.

I do it in spite of Zakk Wylde.

Wrapping decreases the bearing pressure across the bridge which allows strings to be a little slinkier feeling...making the 10-48 set I use feel like a 9.5 or so gauge.

There are probably a million threads about top wrapping on the web at various forums

Ok, and I wasn't trying to make you mad with the Zakk Wylde thing (I had seen it on one of his Gibson signature guitars). I'll probably try that next time I restring. I want a looser feel, but I'm definitely not changing gauges. 10-52's are probably the best that I've found for each of the tunings I use (Standard, Drop D, Eb Standard, Drop Db, D Standard, Drop C). For Drop C I use a 54.
