Cool 80's sounding backing track ...

Re: Cool 80's sounding backing track ...

Lo Fi

Hi Fi

MP3

First clips of my newer Gordon Smith \m/ (it's a keeper now). The first solo is the mid single, the rest is the C-5 bridge.

I thought I'd added more delay to it than I seem to have, but oh well :laugh2:

Excuse the outro, and the sloppy tapping section :laugh2: I got a bit carried away :D

Now I hope everything still works once I find a way out of this spandex... :saeek:

Haha, thats not my bed. The music room is downstairs, right next to my parents bedroom (this house was a bungalow but it's now got an upstairs - where I sleep). Just shows how lazy I am... :D

Nuni, the part I like best is that your solo has a "head". A theme that you return to. To me, that's what keeps things interesting, when a solo has a central theme and branches and returns like a composition. I'm personally not good at shooting from the hip, I have to sit down and work things out... part of my nature I guess (and why nothing ever gets completed).

Of course I also like the noisy stuff at the end... that's always cool.

NIce work... but I'd move out of your mum's bedroom... you might develop an oedipus complex or something.

Re: Cool 80's sounding backing track ...

I DON'T LIVE THERE!!!!

The music room is next door, it's just the way it's set out.

The pics only got taken in there because I was too lazy to go take them upstairs, and theres wasn't any space to take them in here!!

Man... I'm gonna have to retake the pics up in my room now :laugh2:

Yes... My wallpaper sucks as well. But I haven't had chance to re-decorate even though we moved in two years ago... :laugh2:

Well, I only sleep in that room, all my guitars are downstairs so theres no rush. :burnout:

Edit: Wow those photos suck

Edit #2: Man... I can't believe I'm getting abused over a photo in the first place :yell:

:soapbox: :smoker: :laugh2:

OK. Here is my take at it.

I had a hell of a time trying to mix the volumes so that I could cut through with my terrible home recording equipment!

I hope you guys can hear me!! Anyway, here it is: Enjoy!

EDIT: I uploaded the LOFI version as JammerMatt suggested - and the leads do cut better. Thanks a lot guys for both the responses and just listening! You guys rock.

The wife was out this afternoon and I have been itching to record something,so....
I am a pre EVH player. I was in college working my @$$ off during the 80's (and not playing much guitar). THis was just fun, plugged in, cranked up the amp and played (used some indiscriminate wammy bar as well). Left the clams and all. No sweeps, no scrapes, no arpegios (don't know any :laugh2: ).
http://home.comcast.net/~al_az/jam.mp3

the guitar is my Brazilian Santana with the bridge pu plugged into the amp my brother made (vintage marshall pre-amp with El-34's)

Sorry about the amount of reverb. I had turned it up, meant to turn it back down, forgot. Could have redone it but what the heck.

Re: Cool 80's sounding backing track ...

Al.C ... that was a cool solo! :)
What kind of trem is on your guitar? I like Floyds myself, and that didn't sound like that 'big' Floyd-esque trem work.

Re: Cool 80's sounding backing track ...

will listen tomorrow. .. i wish i could throw in something on this one.. but this will have to wait quite some time =(

It's a standard PRS tremelo. I actually don't use it much which is probably why it doesn't sound like other's trem work. I was just having fun and banging it every now and then :laugh2: .
