Cool Wah Pedal score.

Anyhow, I've been more than happy with my Fulltone Clyde Deluxe and Joe Bonamassa Crybaby. But yesterday, I was browsing Craigslist and came across my favorite of the Hendrix Wah's, the JH-1B. I like it because it's got the most authentic look. The best part was that it's mint and $45!! I drove down to Hollywood and picked it up.

Tonight, I finally got a chance to plug it in with my strat and Fender Pro Reverb.
While detail cleaning it and getting the treadle adjusted to my liking, I discovered it was modded! I did some research, and confirmed with the seller that it had a Foxrox FET pre/buffer kit installed....another $50 value that makes the wah sound awesome and compatible with any fuzz pedal.

I like it. The wah sounds great since I can adjust it's preamp buffer level. I can't wait to compare it to my Clyde Deluxe and Bonamassa, as well as seeing how I can make it react with my Fuzz Faces.

Foxrox Electronics Wah Retrofit Description
Did you ever notice that your Wah Wah pedal doesn't cut it when plugged into some effects, such as the Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face, or Fuzz Face clone? This is something that has annoyed guitarists since the late 60's. But now there's a remedy - You can get FULL RANGE out of your Wah Wah pedal with the Foxrox Wah Retrofit.

Foxrox Electronics is proud to offer the ideal remedy to this problem. The Foxrox Wah Retrofit is a self-contained FET buffer/amp circuit that gets installed into your Wah Wah pedal, giving it the ability to cut through any Fuzz Face or Fuzz Face clone. By essentially installing a "real" output section, the Wah Wah pedal becomes immune to the effects of loading, restoring range and depth to older, vintage Wah wah pedals without affecting their vintage value. Newer, high-end "boutique" wah pedals, such as Teese RMC pedals also benefit from this mod because they are based on the same, classic inductor-based circuit. Since it is a basic FET audio buffer/amplifier, this circuit can also be added to effects pedals that need more output, as well as effects that need more drive at the input. NOTE: A Teese RMC wah with the Foxrox Wah Retrofit, going into a Captain Coconut (1 or 2) is guaranteed to deliver the best wah/fuzz/vibe/octave sounds you've ever heard!

I love wah pedals. Isn't the Jimi and the Zakk model the same minus the cosmetics?

The Bonamassa, Zakk and Jimi wahs are all only a component or 2 away from each other from what I understand.

Re: Cool Wah Pedal score.

Wow, absolute bargain! You are amassing quite a nice collection of those classic pedals.

Re: Cool Wah Pedal score.

Yeah, it's getting harder to choose which ones to put on a board, so I had to make two.

Here's the main board you've seen before.

I still need to take pics of the other one, but it's got these on it.
Fulltone Clyde Deluxe
Jimi Fuzz Face
Octafuzz
Way Huge Green Rhino
T Rex Viper Vibe
Digitech Hyper Phase
Boss Harmonist
Boss DD-7

Re: Cool Wah Pedal score.

How does it hold up next to the bonamassa? I had a bonamassa for a bit, but I traded it back in towards an octafuzz lol.

Re: Cool Wah Pedal score.

Mine must be weird. It looks much more like an old-school Crybaby. I like it a lot, though. That top picture is really great. Did you take it, GJ?

I think the current one looks like a standard Crybaby, with just the signature on the front identifying it. I don't know whether the chrome treadle version was a limited edition or something.

Re: Cool Wah Pedal score.

Awesome score Joe...We tweaked my buddie's same JH wah...His also sounds great..Have installed the buffer in many wahs also!

Re: Cool Wah Pedal score.

The Bonamassa Fuzz Faces are more limited than the wah's, so you've got to jump on them as soon as you see them before they're gone. This year, I noticed they just released the Bonamassa FF in gloss black with gold lettering.
